Terrifier 3 has in my opinion many problems.
Where 1 establishes Art as an antihero the second part establishes the counterpart. But where do you go from there?
Terrifier 3 simply goes to a new environment. Christmas. That's basically it. Sienna and Jonathan struggle with the aftermath of Terrifier 3. But they do not evolve. Everything we see we know already from the second part. In the second part the movie guesses that they might be demons or some supernatural force. Know we know for sure so to speak. But the movie doesn't do anything with it.
Then there is the Christmas theme. Christmas is a very difficult environment and I think the only good horror movie with a Christmas theme is Silent Night Deadly Night because it plays with the psychological effects of conservative beliefs and consumerism. Terrifier 3 could have been a movie like the opening sequence and the mall scene. Unfortunately these two scenes are like 20min of the film. The rest is just bloody business with no substance. Doesn't matter if the setting is Christmas and that's a missed opportunity.

The Third Man is a masterfully shot, acted and directed film noir.
It has the visual power of Cabinet of Dr Caligari. The prime example of german expressionistic movies. Everything is shot with an insane amount to detail.
The basic plot is simple. An american, ignorant writer goes to Vienna to find out more about his best friends demise. What are we, as the audience are about to find out?
Well, I personally found out that I hate the soundtrack. That zithermusic almost made my ears bleed and I wondered for years if I would get ear cancer from just watching the movie once 20 years ago. Fortunately I didn't. Furthermore this movie is about... let's say culture shock. Or handling the absolute unknown. This movie does a great job of transporting post war Vienna and its citizens with their habits and so on. But is it something I would get up and saying Yes! Today I'm in the mood for The Third Man! Definitely not!
It's unique, it's masterful it's great! But it stinks like the perfume Medusa from Ikiryo and simultaneously it's so great!

Where the original just put up themes of money and focus on a burned out soldier and maybe with ptsd. Friedkin has much much more to say and delivers a movie about our current society.
The psychological aspect for example is one theme this movie has that is very important. On one hand we see a broken man with issues and still gets to command a ship. But who is free of failure? After all we are humans. But on the other hand is, due to the internet and blinkist the danger of smattering of everything and knowledge of nothing.
Friedkin manages to picture society in a nutshell or courtroom in that case and puts his finger on the wound of today's zeitgeist. Especially if we look at how ugly we treat a certain president.
Friedkins last movie is definitely a must watch.
