I saw an advanced screening of Evil Dead in San Diego and this was one wild ride! First off, don't go in expecting the greatest character development. If you go into this movie looking for character development and such, you are sadly not in the right mindset. Remember how you approached the Evil Dead trilogy? Did you look for character development there? You go for the pure entertainment with the horror, laughs, and gore. This remake, it's the same sort of approach, only it's a huge emphasis on the gore. The gore really delivers in gallons here as there is not a single moment that is dull. Once things start going crazy, they never let up and this movie just becomes insane.

Was it a scary movie? Well, people did scream. I got chills on some parts, and you are constantly on the edge of your seat as you just don't know what to anticipate with each ticking second. I'd say it can be labeled as pretty scary at times.

The acting was solid all across the board. Levy gives the best performance as Mia. She really made you love or hate her and it was to both extremes. The characters were likable overall, despite you not really getting to know them all too well. Then again, did you get to know all of the characters that well in the original Evil Dead? You did not and it is a cult classic. There were some nods to the originals, but I will not say what they were as I feel everyone should experience it.

This movie was an awesome ride with all kinds of blood and crazy moments. This movie will stick with you and it won't completely sink in because, let's face it, you're eager to see the next installment in the Evil Dead franchise. Typing this review, I can say that this movie has not completely sunk in. Great stuff! As for the post-credits, I say ask yourself: would you stay after the credits for a Marvel movie? That should give you a good idea there.

Living in the US, I would read the term "Video Nasty" when it would come to collecting horror films such as the Beyond or Island of Death. I never looked into the term and then I'd come across it more and more. It would always be there when a movie like Horrible would hit DVD and you would see people say things like "finally a Video Nasty gets a DVD release!" Finally, after getting an all region DVD player, I decided to look into this whole "Video Nasty" list and see what I had and needed.

This documentary was the big step as it details the Video Recordings Act from 83 and it tells the story of how the powers that be in the UK would have police raid video stores to seize the "Video Nasties" that would morally corrupt society. I already have this fascination with how people react to horror films and how the genre is so different with people compared to other genres. But to see a whole country be affected by a list of horror films? Wow! It takes you through the events and how the legal battles went and everything. Truly fascinating stuff for any horror fan.

The extras on the DVD feature every trailer for every film on the list. I can proudly say this documentary was one of the greatest purchases I have made as a horror fan as it made me go after the remaining 33 movies listed on the Video Nasties list. I wish the documentary would get a region 1 release so people here in the States can appreciate a piece of horror history.

Not all movies on the list are available on DVD. However, if you look hard enough like I did, you will find them.

Everyone should see this. If you are a true horror fan, do yourself a favor and get this documentary. If you are a horror collector, get this documentary and start one of the funnest horror hunts you will ever have as a collector.

Yes, you have seen and are familiar with possession films. Ever since The Exorcist, we've seen a number of pretenders. However, despite a lot of imitators, there are many that are solid like Beyond the Door. Yes, we've been getting a lot of possession films, but that is to be expected when they keep making all kinds of money. Don't worry, this is a solid horror film overall. The acting was good as the cast was perfect. The suspense was there with the nice buildup and the atmosphere. What I liked is that this was about the Jewish religion instead of the usual run-of-the-mill Christian or Catholic religious theme. The film was shot well and the production values were a plus.

I really liked the climax as it was up there with the Exorcist. I thought it was pretty intense and memorable. You just didn't know what was going to happen, thus keeping you on edge. Emily is a character that I will remember in horror history as I kept thinking of Regan from the Exorcist. Great performances all around.

The special effects were solid. None of the CGI was terrible as it was polished, making things feel realistic. There are scenes in this movie that will stick with you. There were some memorable quotes in this movie as well.

I am glad I saw this. I am also glad that my Possession button from Comic Con 2012 was not a throwaway freebie as well!
