One of the more unknown romantic comedies of the early 90s, and its a charmer. Al Pacino is charming and insistent as Johnny and Michelle Pfeiffer is as always, stunning and closed off to Johnny's approaches. It is one of those movies that confirm why the movies of the 90s have that particular charm that you will never find in more recent movies. There is a spontaneity to the acting and the characters, a sort of ad-libbing that makes the movie so charming and lovable. This magic that Garry Marshall brings to his film can also be seen in Pretty Woman and Princess Diaries. The comedic timing is insanely good and often catches you by surprise.
I enjoyed this one thoroughly.

I went into Abigail fully expecting the usual kidnapping gone wrong plot and the movie did have the the usual tropes as well: tragic backstories making the viewer connect with the main characters, typical (and wholly expected) jump-scares, the bonding of the team after the kidnapping, etc,. And even watching a few of the posters/trailers, you will understand the entire premise and you think you can easily predict the film from there on out.
But this is when the film surprises you.
It has a couple of really good comedic moments, thanks to Kathryn Newton and Kevin Durand and some incredible and astounding acting by the young Alisha Weir. The last thirty minutes of the movie is unexpected by Hollywood standards and throws out the conventional plot of kidnapping goes wrong.
This is definitely your usual Friday night popcorn flick but its not one to sleep on, its fresh and bloody and very very enjoyable. 3.5/5.

By this point of the series, you are already pretty intrigued by the story line: the mystery surrounding the enigmatic but strange new Father Paul, Lisa's's miracle, the bad omen found on the beaches, the strange sightings all around the island ; but not quite convinced if this show is worth your time.
If you were still on the edge of where you stood at the start of this episode, I guarantee that by the end of this episode, you will taken hook, line and sinker.
This episodes literally makes you draw in your breathe, and hold it. The last few scenes are explosive and the realisation of the reveal makes you sit dumbfounded gaping at the screen.
One particular shot in this episode stayed in mind for months. I have to say on second watching, Mike Flanagan's Midnight Mass is even better than the first time around.
The episode picks up in the last 20 mins, once you get to this point, I guarantee you will want to binge all the way till the end..
