Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
A disappointment, but not a waste of time.
I'll admit that I liked Man of Steel far more than I expected, and definitely more than the average comic book fan. While I enjoyed the new take on the characters in that film however, I found myself not even being able to take the ones in this film seriously. The two exceptions to this however are Ben Affleck as Batman and Jeremy Irons as Alfred, both bring a certain atmosphere to this story that really do make them the only saving grace. They weren't enough to make me love this movie though, and the overall tone just makes me feel like DC needs a break. I don't think I've been so disappointed with a film since The Hobbit part three. All I can say is that I hope Suicide Squad revitalizes my love for the DC universe. If not, then I don't think I'll be back till these movies have nothing to do with Zach Snyder, Christopher Nolan, and David S. Goyer.
Me Him Her (2015)
Like a bad 'Chasing Amy'
Max Landis clearly had an idea that is presented well at some moments but completely missed at others. While it's far from bad, it's also just as far from good. The performances are spot on, Haley Osment feels like Michael Cera in 'This Is The End'. The general plot does give a borderline 'Chasing Amy' feel, but Max does manage to bring a much more surreal and intimate take on it. As I said, this works well in some scenes more than others. Not a perfect film, but exactly what I was expecting from such a creative and surreal writer. The indie atmosphere is certainly an acquired taste, but if you have a certain appreciation for the film industry, then you won't feel like you're wasting time watching this film.
