Once again, another disappointment from Angelina Jolie. A sad, sad tale (done in an "artsy" way) about the sad ending of a misunderstood, and therefore tragically untreated or appreciated, woman who was the original "rock" superstar, before "Rock" was even a twinkle in Elvis Pressley's eye.
Angelina played herself. And she will die just as Maria did, only from anorexia, not a muscular disease. She will die just like Karen Carpenter because no one has the power (or inclination) to address the issue and make her do what SHE must do to get well.
Can't stand watching it.
Will never watch her again. Unless she gets help and GAINS 30 POUNDS! PS we can tell.
Can't stand to see her this way.
Bye.

I remember seeing this movie some years ago, and wanted ro see Jsdon Patric again. He had something special. Not to mention Duvall, Hackman. Wes Studi, Matt Damon and Kevin Tighe.
While I remember the mobie fondly, I had to stop watching this tme when, in the opening scene, I saw Brig. Gen. George Cook riding into battle on a mule (everyone else on sorrel quarter horses, a few bucks and bays mixed in). I understand the movie is trying to tell the tale of a terrible time on our history, but a mule? Really? . Was this one of the Gen.'s quirks? Was this a common practice that is not usually shown in movies? Perhaps I am not giving mules enough credit. I may watch the rest again, but for now I am just too distracted by this unexplained anomiay to enjoy any of it, even Jason Patric.
I would like to mention at this time, Kevin Tighe. Kevin Tighe has been quietly character acting in the background for as long as I can remember "(Emergency", 1973-1976).xand I have to ask myself, "Does this man never age?" If so, he has done so very slowly. I think he deserves recognition and perhaps a lifetime achievement award for his body of work. Keep a watch out for him in any old movies...he is like an Easter Egg, he is probably there somewhere!

More than your usual "oops!" story about teen pregnancy, this movie focuses on grief, and recovery in a comforting and realistic way.
It is a difficult subjecr to address, as each person's experience is different and is based on totally different perspectives. The depth and breadth of each person's memories, experiences, joys and regrets could easily be a movie in and of itself. Each is not fully explored, , but it takes all the sides to make the point.
Good acting, interesting direction and a solid script made this movie easy to watch and emotionally healing, too.
I would recommend it. Glad I watched it.
