It's Florida, Man (2024)
Amusing
When I saw that Danny McBride was an executive producer this whole 27 minutes made sense. The interviews being repeated by actors is an old trick. God knows the show would not lead with it's best episode. Florida does have it's idiots much like every other state. We will see what the remaining episodes bring us, but if it Danny McBride expect a lot of gore and nonsense.
Even my my young son came out of his room to say, "what the hell am I watching?"
And he loves everything.
I see what were going for but they missed on episode 1. There are thousands of stories about Florida due to the Freedom of information Act. My favorite is the man in Naples who raised rattlesnakes in his apartment.
The Kominsky Method (2018)
Wonderful!
As a 66 year old single male man, I want to express my love for this creative gem. The writing is incredible and entertaining. While I'm not binge watcher, tonight I finished Season 2 with regret that I will have wait for Season 3. I love the reality with the comedy, and the spirits that influence us from the past.
My son even loved some episodes he saw with me, but he had no idea on how great Alan Arkin is. Maybe, someday, he will watch Catch-22.
Better Late Than Never (2016)
Wonderful!
My base assumption is that all "reality shows" are scripted. They have to be. Otherwise, they would be boring.
BUT to take 4 celebrities we don't dislike, and drag them to the subways of Japan, and edit the highlights, had me rolling on the floor laughing.
Is it scripted? Yes. But the personalities take the script and add 100% of humor. I learned a lot, and laughed a lot. I liked the the biggest factoids with a visual explanation.
I'm 62, but the line in episode 1......"Who needs a Tylenol?"... hit home.
This is 6 episodes of hilarity as they drag these 4 guys across SE Asia. I'm looking forward to it. I read it was 6 episodes/cities somewhere, but regardless, it was fun to watch. Writers did not try to shock us, but relaxed and just tried to make us laugh. I noticed Carol Leifer(Seinfeld) is a writer/comedian, and her humor was wonderful.
Bradshaw, Winkler, Shatner, and Foreman dragging luggage on their own.
Scripted reality shows can be fun. And this is one of them.
Maya & Marty (2016)
Do Not Compare This to SNL
This 62 year old white male liked this show. I thought the writing was creative and far superior to most of the SNL shows from the previous calendar year.
Not every joke hits. That's a given. It's Martin Short and Maya Rudolph (Minnie Riperton). But there were some very creative bits that have never been done before.
And the guest stars they got was unimaginable. Steve Martin, Emma Stone, Nathan Lane, Tom Hanks, etc.
Sean Hayes as the 1940's gay detective, filmed in B/W was great.
The days where America sits down to watch a 60 minute show together are gone. But there was some brilliant comedy in this 360 minute series.
I don't know if they could make it last in a second season. But I truly enjoyed it. Thank you Mikey, Maya, Martin, and Kenan.
I ask everyone, what if SNL had these guest stars and cast every week?
BrainDead (2016)
Theme vs. Plausibilty
I could not believe the early ratings on this show gave it a 7.4. This show is so bad, the director gave us close-up shots of Mary Winstead so close you can see her skin pores.
The trailers and commercials hooked me. Episode 1 lost me.
Nothing makes sense. Good sci-fi is plausible with imagination.
This show has no imagination. I'm guessing they will lead with tight shots on Winsteads face and body.
Why give Winstead such a lame documentary that she is filming. She could of been an award winning documentarian and the story would of been better
I'll give it one more episode
7.4? Really?
