Sentai Daishikkaku (2024)
For Power Rangers fans, this is not what you're looking for
As a longtime Power Rangers fan, I approached "Go! Go! Loser Ranger!" with a mix of curiosity and excitement, eager to see a darker take on the beloved franchise. Unfortunately, this anime did not deliver what I was hoping for.
Firstly, the fights are lackluster. They lack the excitement and intensity that Power Rangers fans have come to expect. The choreography is unremarkable, and the battles fail to capture the thrilling energy that defines the original series.
The plot, while original, misses the mark for those seeking a Power Rangers experience. It's filled with twists and turns that, rather than being engaging, often feel forced and uninspired. The narrative lacks the magic and charm of the Power Rangers, instead presenting an anime story dressed in a Power Rangers costume.
For those hoping to scratch the Power Rangers itch, this anime is not the solution. It's an original story that doesn't quite live up to the standards set by the franchise. In essence, "Go! Go! Loser Ranger!" fails to capture the spirit and excitement that Power Rangers fans crave. If you're looking for something that truly embodies the Power Rangers experience, you'll need to look elsewhere.
Ôbârôdo: The Ruler of Conspiracy (2022)
Wack
The excitement of this episode is driven by a colosseum duel with The Warrior King. Prior to the duel, the rules are set and no magic is allowed. The very first move that Ainz makes is inflicting a debilitating magical effect on The Warrior King and distracting him with fire. Ainz believes that while he agreed not to use magic, that doesn't preclude the use of magic items.
He thinks that "no magic" in a duel means "don't cast spells, any magical items are fine", which turns into him mostly using magical means to win this stupid fight.
You'd think this would be a cool opportunity for his black knight persona to come out and to show an actual fun spectacle of a duel, but this fight is decided in the first moves and is honestly painfully boring. Another lame episode in what is looking to be a weak season.
The Last of Us: Kin (2023)
Joel is unrecognizable
Seriously. This version of Joel is a faint whisper of the man we know from the game. It's not Pedro's fault either, the acting here is great. Joel in the game is a wildly competent survivor, a physical force to reckoned with, unapologetically ruthless, and pragmatic. This Joel is defined by sadness, weakness, worry, and stupidity. OG Joel makes a point to not be throwing his real name out to whoever asks for it, which show Joel has done multiple times now. Anyone familiar with the second game will realize what Druckmann is trying to do with this particular retcon. We don't ever see Joel cry outside of the moment he loses his daughter, now he's crying about being too old and deaf (another retcon, OG Joel has incredible hearing that he can use to locate enemies).
To top it off, this show just isn't enjoyable anymore. Episode 1 was incredible and not a single episode has lived up to the expectations that it set. I think this is the last episode for me.
The Batman (2022)
Cringe
Boring. Pattinson, while a very cool guy, is neither Bruce Wayne nor Batman. The rest of the cast was fine but the story is drawn out with no worthy payoff, the drama is meh, everything is meh, some of this stuff is just plain nonsensical. Found myself falling asleep. Final monologue was the epitome of on the nose and it really doesn't fit Batman's character at all. The Se7en inspired elements are right at home with Batman but unfortunately it's not enough to save this movie.
4/10.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Ascension (2016)
This was the finale? Seriously? Trash writing from Jed Whedon
This whole episode was so stupid. The bad guys have the jet get up to altitude the absolute slowest way possible? The other bad guy is gonna listen to a threat from Fitz instead of just ending him? He's not gonna shoot May on the ground? These stupid zombies can't see movement? (Real original) Suddenly introducing invisible gun tech that we haven't yet and hasn't even been hinted at? The dialogue is horrible and goes on waaaay too long in some scenes. The untrimmed fat in this episode is bizzarely out of place for this series. Hologram trick was WAY, WAY too predictable and removed all tension from what could have been a heavy scene. Agents getting so emotional during a mission removes the suspension of disbelief and makes the show feel like a cheap soap opera. The necklace plot was weak. Disappointing.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Emancipation (2016)
Cool, but...
Why did Lash not kill Hive after winning the fight? He could have easily killed him and then saved Daisy, but instead he just... Leaves him there? Wtf?
Hotaru no haka (1988)
Pretty stunningly overrated
Honestly can't believe how well received this film is. The story is sad, yes, but it's also extremely boring and slow. I wasn't floored or depressed like many others claim, my tears were from boredom.
Yasuke (2021)
Pretty boring letdown
Looked exciting from the trailer. The English voice acting for the main character is so bad you'll want to watch in Japanese with subtitles instead. The story is boring, not sure what else to say about it. There isn't anything interesting enough to dissect or interpret. Very cliche.
Yasuke: Ronin (2021)
Better with Japanese dub
The English voice acting for the main character is amateur to the point of preventing any immersion into the show. I would have preferred to watch in English, but the Japanese voice over is much better.
Side note that didn't affect my rating, the intro music is terrible.
Final Space (2018)
Really Bad
What even is the point? There isn't a single laugh out loud moment in the entire show. Plot is boring. Action is meh. What's the point?
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: Power Broker (2021)
Wtf?
Horrible production from Marvel. Very out of character.
Story sucks, storytelling sucks, zero feeling in any scene. I gotta believe it's not the fault of the actors because they've been amazing outside of this show. Would love to know what happened behind the scenes that caused this to happen.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Face My Enemy (2014)
Fun, but not quite up to the quality of Season 1
It's fun. It's nice seeing our favorite character arcs continue. Feels like the B-Writing team.
Titans: Fallen (2019)
How did this go from being good to such trash
What on earth happened to this show? Totally brainless. Skip.
Titans: Bruce Wayne (2019)
Cringe
All of this episode is cringe. Bruce Wayne actor is a terrible fit for the role.
In the Dark: The One That Got Away (2019)
This was the episode where it very clearly, absolutely went off the deep end.
No spoilers in this review.
What in the hell? After all of this build up in a very realistic, high-stakes world, suddenly the story catapults (very unbelievably) into the fairy-tale la la land of some other show. This episode is unbelievable in the worst sense of the word. It made me stop believing that these characters and the scenario could be based ~at all~ on reality. The scenarios presented and the characters reactions to them are so horrendously bogus that I was actually waiting for it to be a dream sequence.
If your audience is hoping that what you're showing them is a dream sequence, you have given up.
Better Call Saul: Marco (2015)
Great Season, Bad Finale
Jimmy's revelation was WAAAAY too rushed and doesn't make any sense in context. Bingo scene was painful to watch, almost nothing in this episode felt cohesive with the rest of the season. You're telling me Jimmy is being offered a position as a PARTNER, and he bails because he wants to be Slippin' Jimmy again?
C'mon.
Glass (2019)
Treats its viewers like idiots and drowns what could be interesting characters in needless exposition.
This really could have been a good movie. The characters are interesting and the setup, while slow, was adequate for something exciting.
Instead, all of the twists take away from the thrill instead of add to it, and the movie tirelessly explains every single twist and interesting event to the fullest. It's like a guide on how to watch a movie.
I know how to watch a movie. Stop treating me like I've never seen a movie.
Feels like I wasted my time.
Luke Cage: The Main Ingredient (2018)
Couldn't stand the first few episodes so I jumped to this one because it was the highest rated...
There's your disclaimer, jumping to episode 10 means that I obviously have no idea what events have led up to this and how much weight certain scenes or lines have.
That said, it's bad. The acting, the dialogue, the fight scenes, the new characters, the politics. It ranges from boring at best to cringy.
I wanted to like this season. I moderately enjoyed season 1. After being spoiled by Daredevil, The Punisher, and Jessica Jones, this just doesn't hold up.
Get Out (2017)
Do not listen to all of the people claiming this movie is bad/racist.
I came to IMDB after watching Get Out, and I was excited to see what everyone else thought of this fantastic movie.
You can imagine my disappointment to find more than a fair share of cries of racism, and the despicable, repeated and ironically racist notion that if this movie had a white director, it would not have received the same praise.
The reality is that this movie is brilliant and horrifying. Absolutely unbelievable work for the first-time director Jordan Peele. I love horror films, but I've become jaded and found it hard to feel anything resembling terror from anything released in the past few years.
This movie is terrifying. Terrifying in a way that keeps you begging to know more even once the credits roll. 10/10
