This is a truly awful film. I could not finish it, but if i had I am sure i would have rated it a 1, rather than two. It is unbelievably pretentious and pointless. There is not much to say, really except this movie stinks. I have no problem with art films (I am an artist), but this was a wannabe art flick of the worst type: more a joke about student films than a real movie. There are random, unexplained clowns strewn about the film like cameos in The Player. Really- random clowns? If that is the only way the director/writer/whoever can express emotional confusion or disaffection or whaterver other crock of crap they are supposed to be a metaphor of, he needs to throw in the towel. It is an insult to your intelligence.

Yet again Andy Garcia overacts in a terrible, preachy film. I sincerely fail to see the appeal of Garcia, and every film I have seen him in seems to contain some moral or other. This is no exception, but the moralists should look to Aesop for guidance, since this was an entirely predictable film. I won't risk IMDb's censure or censorship by giving away the plot... but if you are half as smart as the audience for this film is supposed to be, it would be impossible for me to tell you anything you won't figure out 30 minutes before it happens, at the latest. The characters are all flat and totally unengaging. The direction and cinematography are decent, but uninspired. The real flaw in this film is simply that it had a highly derivative story and uninspired script. It seems a stupid film for people who think they are smart. Avoid it if you are actually an intelligent, critical viewer. Sheer crap.

This was one of the worst films I have seen in recent memory. It was a human interest tale with no soul. The plot was deeply flawed. How can you have a biopic with a deeply flawed plot? I don't know but somehow this movie managed to make no sense. Russel Crowe plays Nash the way he plays every other character. This character works as a gladiator, not as mathematician. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate this movie because of any glaring factual errors, although I have been told there are many. No, this is a work of fiction, and it fails as such. There is nothing to connect to on a human level in this film, except Jennifer Connely, but one strong performance cannot save the bad script and uninspired direction. Avoid this film if any sort of internal consistency or humanity are important to you in film.
