The Prince of Egypt (1998)
An invigorating story even if you are not a Christian
The Prince of Egypt was one of my favorite movies as a kid, and my opinion, one of the top three Dreamworks movies. It tells the story of Moses in it's own beautiful artstyle and storyline depicted of his time before he was called to deliver the Hebrew People from the Egyptians. The music and songs were always intense and I still enjoyed it even when I grew up. The beauty and intense emotion delivered by these 2-D characters brings about a magic that any and all ages can enjoy. As said in the description above, you don't have to be a Christian or religious at all to enjoy this movie. The Prince of Egypt has some of the most powerful artwork and depictions of family and friends including what it means to be an ordinary man who with the help of God can do extraordinary things.
The Prince of Egypt is not a perfect film and like any film telling a biblical story or anything religious at all, it never will be. But it is still an enjoyable experience that I plan to share with my children for years to come and show them just what Dreamworks was capable of back then.
Daeho (2015)
A masterpiece in its own rights
The performances of this film were believable and extremely powerful, and the music only adds to the effect how haunting and emotional this film is. The CGI is spectacular for its time and you can hardly tell from time to time.
The whole story revolving around this experienced hunter and the last tiger in Korea is a powerful tale that I think sets the standards of how to make an audience root for both parties of an epic conflict.
Gekijôban Fearî Teiru: Doragon Kurai (2017)
The Phoenix Mistake
I'm a good fan of Fairy Tial. I loved the anime series because they were quirky, different, and just plain enjoyable. A good run of seasons had passed, and then 'The Phoenix Priestess' came out. As a rushed movie, the entire film flopped and just plain sucked. The plot had been rushed, many situations made little to no sense and the characters that you loved in the anime just aren't there in the movie. They are just cardboard cutouts and the villains and climax was just... ugh.
What does this have to do with Dragon Cry? Why do I call it 'The Phoenix Mistake'? Because when they were making this story and the movie, they were given a bigger budget and had a huge enough fanbase to back it up.
And they completely and utterly flopped it.
The entire course of the film is choppy and makes absolutely no sense. The plot is simple: magical artifact stolen, get back magical item, kick butt, lesson learned. Unfortunately, the whole scenario is completely thrown into a blender and mixed into 'overdrive'. There is little to no character development or deep meaning in anything they do. I love the Fairy Tail guild, but I just didnt find anything worth caring about these characters. All the women were literally just fan service and the men were just plain simple and stupid cutout's.
You will also be lost with each and every setting change in the entire film. Characters appear out of nowhere with no explanation as to how or why, the plot is rushed without any explanation as to how anything works or should be, and we are given so many questions with absolutely no answers. The bad guys are just plain confusing and unoriginal, and the fights... dear God the fights are either too short, or just plain lame. There is no signature fighting moves and when introduced to something new (as shown on the cover) we are given no explanation as to how or why it happened.
The only thing I can really congratulate this film on was its beauty. We are talking like original animation with beautiful artwork. It's literally the only thing keeping this burning ship afloat aside from any die-hard fans who refuse to see anything wrong with it. Dragon Cry is just a sad cardboard cutout plot with cardboard characters with escalated fan service with logic literally having bricks tied to its ankles before getting tossed in the river. It is a complete disaster that makes even the Phoenix Priestess a decent movie.
Take it from me: you are better off watching the anime or reading the manga. Niether of the Fairy Tail films offer anything to the entire story, nor does it apply any value to your life whether you are a die-hard fan or otherwise. This movie, is absolutely garbage, and as a Fairy Tail Fan, I am willing to save all others the pain and tell you to skip this film. Avoid it like the black plague, and forget it ever existed.
Wolf's Rain (2003)
Strayed
One of my favorite movies growing up was Balto, mostly because I liked wolves growing up. As I got older I was introduced to this anime, and decided I'd give it a shot and all I can really say is, definitely, worth my time. Wolf's Rain is a beautifully crafted story, telling of these wolves who are desperate to find Paradise. Along the way they have many adventures leading up to finding it, really grow as a pack and on a personal level, and really look at the torn world around them and really make you ask the question: does the dream really end once you reach your goal? I enjoyed watching every minute of it, the animation- I can't even describe it, I've never seen wolves more beautifully drawn until I watched this anime. The music, amazing. One moment it is relaxing with beautiful piano music and the next extremely gripping as you get to the more intense scenes. The thoughts of these wolves, their lessons on survival and what it means to have a family and a dream, everything about this anime makes it deserve to be one of the top ten in my book. I can't really complain about the anime at all aside from a small dip in the middle which was honestly kinda boring, buuut it comes back with a bigger bang so it kind of makes up for it.
All in all, Wolf's Rain is one of Bones Must-Watch if you are an action/adventure anime fan.
Fairy Tail (2009)
Over the top? This anime knows no such words.
Fairy Tail is one of my favorite long-running shows for many reasons. One, the action is good and well detailed, the comedy is hilarious and used at the right times, and it's eye-opening discussions make you love the characters even more. Every time I watched an episode, I would have many different reactions to them. Sometimes I'll be, 'oh that was good', or 'what the hell did I just watch', or 'that was freaking intense!', or 'that was depressing' and... you get the point. My point is that this series will leave you with many different emotions as you walk away from it. Some may say it is over the top when it comes to the humor or the action, but still, it sticks to the story and it doesn't care if anything is over the top. Some people may not like this series for a multitude of reasons. The only problem I personally had with it, was how long the series goes. I am not a huge fan of long-running animes because of filler episodes, or it drags on sometimes, but that is just me. Another thing I'd like to point out, is this is an anime that is not meant to be watched seriously. At all. There are many serious moments when it comes to death, loneliness, or family, which I will point out makes the story even more interesting and will sometimes leave you with a new perspective on the little things around you. This anime series is meant to be watched solely for entertainment. The emotional parts and situations will definitely get to you when they come, but for the most part, this is an anime that is just fun to watch simply for the heck of it. If you are a fan of long-running animes, love action, comedy, and stories of friendships and family, this action-anime is just for you.
Kanon (2006)
Another Dream
One of the things I find interesting in any anime made by Key, is that nothing is as it seems at first, and yet they throw it in your face without you even realizing it. There is always, a deeper story within the many stories throughout their animes and Kanon is definitely one of them. Here you have a boy returning to a place he has very little memory from, and runs into girls from his past who he helps in order to place all the pieces together. Cliché maybe in terms of most animes made by Key? Maybe. What separates Kanon from other productions however is the use of amnesia and dreaming as a way of coping with many different things in terms of family, suicide, death, love and many more. What I loved about the anime itself are the relatable characters as well as the colorful personalities of all the characters. What I also liked, and this goes for all of Keys animes, is the music. I love the music, and I love the scenes each song is played in. It fits the mood so well, and definitely gives you that emotion you are supposed to feel during difficult and memorable times. There are some elements that might turn people away from this drama, such as supernatural moments and situations, but they are a crucial part of the entire story and I think it tied the ending extremely well. Needless to say, as said above, nothing is as it seems. Ever. And that can either be a good thing, or a bad thing depending on how you look at it. However one thing is for certain, you will not be disappointed in this anime. I recommend this to basically everyone, even if you're not a huge fan of drama animes, give this a shot. You'll find that you might really like it.
Kuranado (2007)
Done Right
Every once in a while, you will watch an anime, movie, TV show or even read a story that kind of leaves you in a void. You start seeing things differently, you don't know what to do with yourself, and you begin to question how life works. Clannad, and Clannad Afterstory, is one of these animes. After watching Clannad I got into the sequel, and after watching it, I felt such a void because the story was so amazing so surreal, that it became one of my many favorite anime shows. What makes Clannad different from every other romantic genre, is because of this season right here. When you watch some kind of romance entertainment you get this whole bit of these two love birds trying to get together, and then they finally get together in the end, and then the story ends. You never know what happens afterwards. What makes Clannad so good, is because it doesn't just end where it did in the first season, where the two main characters get together. Instead, After Story takes us to that time in our life when graduation happens, life in high school ends, and adulthood starts. It continues the story to tell us what happens to Tomoya and Naigisa (probably spelling it wrong, but oh well). If you remember the first season, one of the many stories and sayings within it tell us of many different realities, and After Story kind of in a way explains the confusion that we were left in the end. Not only that but more new problems surface, such as old friendships, dealing with work and living on your own, etc. While the original Clannad focused on the problems at school and the importance of family and friends, the After Story focuses on the same stuff, but like I said before in that period of adulthood we all just love. It also brings out one of the most powerful messages that I think personally is the best thing to ask yourself when dealing with school, work, adulthood, marriage, friendships and relationships whatever. If what you dreamed of doesn't happen, and life takes you on this metaphorical trainwreck and continues to beat you senseless time and time again, and all of that was because of a single choice you made long ago: despite maybe having to go through it again knowing the pain and torment you will go through, would you still make that choice again? Will you do that one thing for one person, would you talk to this one, would you do anything differently to change the outcome, or would you do it all again because despite you know how it ends, you still love that person? That being said, this is one of the best anime I have seen thus far, which is big because I don't like romance anime at all. If you're not a fan either don't worry, it's not your typical chick flick. Check it out, and I can personally promise you, you wont be disappointed though. A word to the wise though, this season is more emotionally distressful than the previous due to the relevance of family, friend and romantic relationships that are not just 'oh that sad', but crushingly sad. That being said I don't care how tough you are, the only ONLY way you can watch this season and not cry, is because you have a heart like a brick. Just saying. Me being a guy, I have to admit, I was choked up on a few scenes, but in the end, I was glad I made the choice to go through and watch this show. That being said, check out Clannad After Story if you are a fan of the original, and if you never heard of this show at all, watch both seasons. It is a must.
Mirai nikki (2011)
A bloody good time... if you're into psychopaths
Every once in awhile I will watch an anime, and at the end of watching it I will sometimes think, 'What the heck did I just watch'? But in the end, I will look back and think of how complex the story was and how it was well thought-out until the very end. The Future Diary is one of those animes.
Here we have a bunch of people trying to kill each other to become a god, using different diaries that can tell the future. This story is very well thought out but also extremely complex in its own right. There will always be a feeling of suspense and you wonder what is going to happen next. You will think, what will happen now, and after that, and after that. But every time a question is answered, immediately another takes its place to basically try and blow you away. And sometimes this works, and sometimes it doesn't. That being said there were plenty of moments when I was like, 'What?' And it forced me to think, and question my previous answers which made the show a little bit more complicated until it all tied together in the end... sort of. Now the constant suspension and turn-around moments in this anime may throw some people off, but all in all this is a very enjoyable anime. If you are not shy of blood, suspense, sex, and complete mind-boggling questions, then this is a show for you. As I said before some might be turned off by the constant complexity and changes in the story, but you may still enjoy it. Give it a shot, and you might just be as surprised as I was.
Hagane no renkinjutsushi (2009)
Different than the original, but still one of the best I've seen.
I have watched the original Full Metal Alchemist Series when I was younger, and I was interested in finding out what made Brotherhood so special, and I have to say I'm glad I gave it a shot. While different that the original series, I would not call it necessarily an improvement on the original, but it is definitely living up to its reputation and gave the new generation a fresh look on the Elric Brothers.
Pros: Good storyline, while different was still very heartwarming, suspenseful, and action-packed to the max. The original can make you laugh, cry, angry, and everything in between, and Brotherhood does not let up whatsoever. It did end the series with a bang, and will definitely be my most top favorite animes today.
Cons: If you are a fan of the original series this series might make you scratch your head, because if you are anything like me you will be comparing the two, which MIGHT take the fun out of the series but then again, you will always be caught off guard by the many new details mixed with the original storyline which makes up for the drastic changes in the storyline.
As a whole, this is an amazing series and I am so glad I decided to try it out, if you are a fan of the original series I can guarantee that at first you will be skeptical, but you will love this series from beginning to end.
Sword Art Online (2012)
A Series That Keeps You Guessing To A Point
After watching the final episode of SAO my reaction was of randomized and mixed feelings just like the show itself. This anime which was completely out of my territory found its way to become one of the best I've seen in a long time.
Pros: The story-line is very good, while randomized at times it stays on course on whatever story it tells and it builds up the suspense with battles, realizations, romance, and almost everything an action anime has to offered. A little bit of humor doesn't hurt either, for the show was serious most of the time but still offered a little bit of comic relief that was well needed but not overused like many anime today. The romance within the story was a nice touch as well as the thoughts concerning life and personal strength.
Cons: As said above the story is randomized at times, in fact during the first few episodes I was confused due to the many 'jumps' in the story. Like one moment the main characters here doing this, and the next doing that. Which was very different and I will admit confusing at first but as the story picked up it all began to make more sense despite my disappointment in the random jumps and what I like to call 'filler' episodes. However I CAN say that it was all worth it in the end.
All in all, it was a very good series and I really enjoyed watching it. It held many characteristics that make for a good adventure and story, it told good lessons within it, and best of all, it keeps you entertained despite the randomness starting in episode one. If you aren't a big fan of 'jumps' or filler episodes maybe this isn't for you, but I highly recommend that you give this series a shot and see for yourself what a wonderful piece of artwork this series has to offer.
Death Note: Desu nôto (2006)
A brilliant work of art.
After watching the series of Death Note I can only describe my feelings towards it as above and beyond. Me being a big fan of anime and manga I dove into this series with high expectations as always, and I have to say this show has earned a 10/10 for good reason.
The entire storyline is a good combination of spookiness, drama and mystery. The originality of the story made it interesting, the drama kept the story fresh and alive with each episode, and the suspenseful mystery kept me at the edge of my seat the whole ride through.
Second, the artwork, the voice acting, and the comparison. The artwork for the scenes and characters were beautifully drawn as many anime, and I felt myself really drawn in with the type of storytelling through what you can see with your own eyes nearly as good as the voice acting, which was superb both in Japanese and English. The voice was perfect for each character, and it gave each one the very life you would expect to see. And next is the comparison to the original manga. They really kept it close and accurate with the book series that I was impressed. Like all anime there were some things they had to wing but it fit just as well with the story.
Now the conclusion. This series was dark, brooding, sinister, dramatic, suspenseful, fun, and a thrill ride beyond what I was expecting. I still have my favorites but this anime series had made it to the top three of my favorite anime, and highly recommend it to anyone who like dark and suspenseful tales knitted with good drama, and intense mystery and desire. Death Note lives to its reputation, and deserves a 10/10.
Until Dawn (2015)
Cabin in the woods... But better. WAY better.
When I was a kid I grew up hearing horror stories of the dreaded Wendigo in the mountains. And the fact that they finally made a horror story for it made my day even better than actually playing this game. The Butterfly Effect is greatly influenced in this game, and if you are a fan of TellTale games then you will love this, because the smallest choices you make really do have an effect on the story and how you play. Everything you say, do, or decide will effect how the game goes. The gameplay was simple as well to go with the Effect which makes it so much more fun. And also (and this is just something I'd like to point out to all horror movies and games) you can enjoy horror movies without the use of nudity and sex. Also, the voice acting was tremendous. The use of ALMOST every cliché in a teen slasher movie is not overdone with a few extra surprises in store. The graphics on everything from facial, hair, and environment was top-notch amazing. Now, the scares. The game kept me guessing the entire time what was real or not, which just adds to the suspense as you continue to play through the game. The monsters are terrifying, the legend behind them is disturbing, the use of psychological influence greatly affects the mood, this is one of those horror games that just nails it every single time and without mercy when it comes to the choices you make. Although it might not be as scary or gory as many horror games are, but it defiantly causes quite a stir on your heart as you are trying to find out what is going on out there in the cabin. So choose wisely, and definitely play this game. It is now considered one of my favorite horror games.
From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)
That escalated VERY quickly
No I haven't seen the TV series, I heard about it after I watched this movie. I just happened to stumble upon this and had no idea what would be in it so I watched it. And I gotta say, that escalated quickly. I honestly thought this was an action movie, and for a good half-hour to an hour it was. The action was good, the acting and suspense portrayed an action setting, until the last half of the movie. Which caught me completely by surprise. Rodriguez is famous for his artistic and crafty style of making movies and I gotta say, he did an outstanding job with this one. The hand-off from action thriller to a horror action film was so well-done I was impressed. I really enjoyed this movie, you can tell the director and cast members had fun making this film, and everything about this film is non-cliché and an insane thrill ride from start to finish. To those who have never seen the movie or the series I'm telling you to watch this first. If you are a fan of the series, go and rent this classic that started it all. You will not be disappointed.
Sinister 2 (2015)
Think of is as Sinister 1, but with a chance to see the kids perspective.
Cause that's kind of what is. Picking up from the first one, the story was done well to continue the legend of the Boogeyman and his legion of children. I liked the story. It picked up well and worked for its advantage. Now, heres what I did not like: The cheesy plot lines considering the children. What tugged at my heartstrings almost as bad as The Girl Next Door, was the amount of abuse. To the kid the wife, I hated it. I hate seeing it. Was it needed for the movie absolutely. So I will say that is my biggest reason why I don't personally like it. And when the abusive man who I shall not name dies I felt no remorse. At all. Anyways, what made this movie good like I said was the story. What was also good were the scares. While some were predictable- actually no VERY predictable, some still managed to catch me when I least expect it. The atmosphere this horror movie delivered was SPOT ON. Just what It needed. Now what was bad, the cheesiness on the children, and the lack of logical reasoning behind the famous tapes and such. Maybe they really were possessed by the need to watch the films but obviously they could have fought it and saved the story a good hour and a half of its time. Nevertheless it managed to sell well, and it worked. Also was the humor added to it. I'm all for humor. No seriously, I really am. It makes us human. But I am not okay with the guy cracking jokes after finding out or seeing something very disturbing. That kills the mood in my opinion. But all in all, I liked this movie. The story picked up good, the scares and sense of dread was strong if they were not at all predictable, and think everyone should at least give it a try. Now my only question is concerning the ending... Does that mean Sinister 3? Dear God what then?
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (2004)
There is a reason this is ranked #1 games in PS2 universe
It is simply amazing. This is ranked #1 of all PS2 video games, and for good reason. The gameplay is the best in this compared to the other GTA games for this system. A great story that holds such emotion and holds onto you from start to finish. While playing this game there was never a dull moment, I was really into it. If you are a big fan of GTA 5, then you gotta play the original game for San Andreas. Get this game because it is absolutely epic and was the main reason for the GTA series to come back onto the map of the gaming world. This is the game that gave the series hope for the new games we all love of the PS3 and XBOX 360. You will definitely not be disappointed in this game, I guarantee it.
Straight Outta Compton (2015)
Surprising
Now me being a bigger fan of rock and roll rather than rap, especially old-school rap, I went to see this movie with my friends with limited expectations. I went in thinking it would be a lousy documentation about the lives of N.W.A, one of my few favorite artists. After watching this movie however, I was really excited. The story was fantastic and matched the history of the guys perfectly without making it boring. The music was top-notch and the true feeling that you get when you watch this makes you feel like you actually feel for these men. This is a fantastic drama about the men who made it 'outta Compton' and I highly recommend it to everyone, even if you aren't a fan of rap you'll love this movie.
PsychoBreak (2014)
Disturbing to the core
Like horror movies I enjoy horror video games. Even if The Evil Within wasn't the scariest I've ever played, it was definitely a very good game. The detail in the story and the graphics were spot on, the feeling of dread and stealth was perfect, and the voice acting was tremendous. The game was very hard, for I was constantly wondering and asking myself if I was going the right way or doing the right thing, and sometimes the controls seemed a little sticky (not as bad as Resident Evil) but other than that the gameplay was very entertaining. The scares in this game were pretty good, although most of the 'scary' parts were mostly disturbing and morbid in nature due to the graphic violence and gory things you see and do. It was like playing Deadspace but a lot more interactive with the blood and guts and the intensity of survival and stealth. I think this is a very good game, but I would not buy it at first. If you have not played it I would rent it first, see if it's your cup of tea and then if you like it buy it. It is a good horror game, however not the best and every person is gonna look at this game differently than another gamer. It's a new story with different scares (same genetics as most horror games) but presented in a new way that kept me interested until the very end (when I finally got there. Like I said this game it pretty difficult), and I recommend this to anyone who likes survival horror, and see for themselves if it's worth the money or not.
Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
What a lovely day!
Wow. I am, blown away at this movie. Mad Max, an immense portion of my childhood has now done it in this intense artwork of cinematic entertainment. Words cannot describe how intense this movie was, or how much I loved this movie.
The action: AMAZING Effect: SPECTACULAR Story: GRIPPING Acting: SUPERB Environment: More than I could even imagine. Results: An amazing thrill ride that will drive you more insane than the residents of the world of fire and blood.
Highly recommend it to fans of the original series, and to the new fans who's seeing this for the first time.
Fast & Furious 7 (2015)
Another thrill ride as promised.
I love The fast and the furious. Every single movie I love with the passion. It went from a simple cheesy racing/crime movie to revenge and hunting, and then straight to pulling off insane heists in Rio and taking down terrorists. Cheesy? Yes. Entertaining? Absolutely.
Is Furious 7 my favorite? No. But it was still the exciting and entertaining thrill ride every single movie in the series everyone loves. There are good laughs, great racing and action, and beautiful cars. Do I think the series went just crazy after the fifth one? Yes. Yes I did. Do I think the developers and crew ever think about logistics, laws of physics or general safety in thought? Absolutely not. However this series was made just for fun anyway. So what is the harm of going as far and beyond as you possibly can? Just ask Diesel and Walker (RIP), and you'll agree that this story (Among every single one in the series) is yes good and a little cheesy and just plain insane, and intense with all the laughs, race, and people we fans love.
If you are a fan, I say give this a try. If you are a hard-core fan of the series, you need to see this movie. It is an absolute definite, and a great success in my book.
Axe Giant: The Wrath of Paul Bunyan (2013)
This is why I don't let my buddies pick horror movies...
Okay. Now I'm a huge horror movie fanatic among other movies. I like stuff that are new. There are some B-movies that I actually like cause they are just fun movies to make. But me liking horror to a T makes me point out every single flaw in this movie. This does not by any means mean that I won't watch B-movies, but this one... Good grief I did not like it. My buddy got this movie, and reading it took me back to when I was younger and hearing tales about the giant Paul Bunyan. And let me tell you, this movie completely, and utterly destroyed that legend.
Before I go on a rant I will tell you the one and only good thing I liked about this movie. The setting. The environment was beautiful, and was just downright gorgeous. I love the woods, and the forest was very pretty so it was a very good place to film a B-movie.
Now to the bad: First is the lack of good acting. None of these characters were unique in anyway, the dialog was horrible along with the bad puns and jokes along with a comical misuse of every single cliché imaginable when needed. From the creepy old man who warns the teens of their inedible doom, to the slut who dies first, the black man dies, the cop is dumb, and trying to deal with the killer, the list goes on and on and on. For the sake of time I will name only a few.
For instance, these kids are criminals, and some judge deemed necessary to send them to the middle of nowhere with only one overweight cop and a dumb blonde counselor. Of course first day of 'healing' begins and the counselor asks the cop to leave the gun behind. I get it that bad things happen in horror movies, but in my outdoors experience, you ALWAYS carry a gun or a knife. And this is a cop, who is supposed to guard these kids not listen to a counselor who 'might help'. Well she is helping technically, but only to get them killed. Plus the acting with the sad sad sex scene... Not gonna go there. And finally, you all know the old saying, 'the black man always dies in a horror movie', well in this movie they did that cliché again, but in the worst possible way. If someone is holding a shotgun at you, you don't run at them. Period. And here's what made me laugh when he fell back and his buddies held him as he died. He says in a very sad way, "Is it bad?" Um... I'm no doctor or mortician, but I'm pretty sure that if you get shot point blank in the stomach there's no 'good' so its most likely bad. Also the a*****e of the group, you know the big jock who we all hope dies does, and I will agree he deserves this from taking a horn from a dead animal, and I don't feel bad when he does, but I'm not okay with him getting it easy with just a stab through the chest. No. He deserves the shotgun.
Now on to the screenplay. Paul Bunyan. A legendary giant whos 63 axe handles high who can clear entire forests in an hour is reduced to this. A troll-like giant who acts really stupid, is a cave dweller, and does not by any means look realistic at all. From the cheap killing cams to just the running around the axe giant looks like a sad add-on from a youtube movie. It was just sad. In one scene he jumps down from a cliff to the criminals he's bent on killing with his giant axe below. And by 'jump' I mean he floated down. Didn't even hopped of jumped or in any way gave the look of jumping off the cliff. He legitimately froze and floated down. Sad. Even for a B-movie.
Finally the story-line. Atrocious. Men kill Pauls ox Babe, he goes nuts kills everyone, and gets captured and humiliated in front of a girl he liked. He then escapes and hides in seclusion. Years later a bunch of dumb teens violate the remains of Babe. Paul gets mad and goes to kill everyone. Predictable, and very sad how they told the story. I like backstories that give you the chills or some understanding. This one, even the actual story was just awful. And when Paul gets killed by National Guard (Go Guard) he starts calling out to the virgin criminal who he thinks looks like the girl he once liked hundreds of years ago (and no she does not look like her at all), the only thought in my head was 'just die already'. And thankfully he did, ending this terrible story that butchered a legend. And all the cast members along with it.
If you like B-movies I say give this one a try you MIGHT like it, but I'm telling you from my experience, I was at a loss for words just how horrible this was. And I have no shame in saying so.
The Gallows (2015)
Surprised me more than those kids
I will start out by saying I walked in having no hope for this film, but walked out kind of impressed.
Reason why, I wanted to give this movie a try because it was new. New story, new monster, new scares. Was I disappointed at the fact that this was one of those footage horror films? Absolutely. I don't like them as much because they're constantly moving around and it just makes the acting more cheesy (Hence why I am not a big fan of paranormal activity among other reasons) but this movie was good despite the shoddy camera movements. The story behind the main storyline fits in and delivers the feeling of dread before it even begins. The scares were good, and the ending was a complete shock to me. I walked in with limited expectations, but walked out impressed. What I liked the most about this movie, is the sheer innocence of it. What I mean is most of the horror movies today will have demonic elements, constant cussing, tons of sex and nudity (which completely destroys the mood of terror or dread) or buckets upon buckets of blood and gore. This movie is proof that you can deliver a good story with great scares without so much added into it. This is a very clean horror movie that was actually scary and good, and I actually liked it. Is it perfect? No. Is it the best? No. But if you want a clean horror with a new story and great scares or elements, then The Gallows is for you.
The Dark Knight (2008)
And, here... we... go!
Me being a batman fanatic, of course I watched them all and loved many of them. But out of every single movie and show I watched I gotta say The Dark Knight blew me away.
The story picked up perfectly from the movie before it, the action was amazing, and Heath Ledgers performance as the new Joker was beyond comparison. I'm not saying I did not enjoy Jack Nicholson as the Joker by any means, but Ledger gave the Joker the deranged, dark humorous psychopath I loved reading about in the comics or watching as a kid. Except instead of more joke or prankster weapons, he uses guns, bombs, and of course, his pockets of knives and lint.
This is by far the best Batman movie by far, like every movie ever made it has its flaws and mistakes, but The Dark Knight caught my attention from the very beginning, all the way to the end. Everything said is a perfect quote, Gotham is more modernized than in the last one, and every single detail and action from Bale and Ledger makes this whole thrill ride amazing.
