Flushers (2013)
best shokof work to date
this film has to be seen with regards to many issues.i have to first and foremost write it is raw, pure, fresh, wild, funny as anything can get in history of making movies but above all it is in my opinion the best, most original and entertaining film in cinema period, and equally all that from daryush shokof whose films i simply find adorable for their sheer originality, and great cynicism.the tale of 2 unfortunate, not very happy with their jobs (toilet keepers) acted brilliantly by the french first timer actor who shines all over the scenes he plays.on the other side of the wall there is a woman who tends the toilet and she too confronts all sorts of banal to sophisticated to flat cheerful happenings inside her toilets.the two toilet keepers share a lottery ticket with which they hope to win this very day and leave the toilet life behind forever.in between the man is in love with the woman toilet keeper and the possibility that their ticket might just win also gives him (patrick) the hope that she (sara) might even marry her as well.the hilarious scenes from this gem of a movie can not really be explained unless one sees this whole amazing piece of filmmaking unravels itself on a big screen.i would so much love to see Flushers in every household and on screens everywhere where such films can teach many how films can be incredible only if a genius concept and mind is behind it to make it right no matter how moneyless a whole production can be.Flushers in my opinion could be remade again like most films of shokof but regardless of how big of a budget or names acting in the remakes , none would ever achieve the signature, maturity and originality of what shokof masters in all his films.i just loved Flushers.a 10 for having made a masterpiece again.
Strange, Stranger (2012)
horror, eroticism by shokof
i saw this film on a small screen but the sound was great.the music was great.the actings from all actors who were in front of the camera for the very first time were just stunning and all this goes to credit of a Master director who writes well, composes well, designs well; and knows how to get the best act from absolutely new comers to the acting world.Strange Stranger is another most original film by shokof that starts with fun and ends with disaster as he puts it just like life is supposed to be but only delivers the second half which he means is death and a disaster or relief?! by all token this mind blowing 90 minutes trip to the strange world of shokof with all his skillful, original, signature like elements from design to concept to story works beautifully all the way to the end.it is not suppose to be scary but it is, and or erotic but it is almost a porno, and or funny but it is even funny at times and even plain sick in some scenes which are extremely graphic and aggravating but it all works because shokof knows where to place what factor to get the best of everything he has in his hands for the best results.the story is simply about a stupid bet between two young men over who gets that (it) girl tonight. they end up in a club which is really a very peculiar scene all by itself and then the (it) girl leaves the club with the playboy good looking Ric Parades on a ride home to her house somewhere in the woods.eerie, night, cold Smokey, fog all over and the (it) girl is all naked in temperatures way below zero where they finally arrive to her place, take a hot bath outside the spooky old house, then go inside as he she starts her moves onto him with her gorgeous body.he is being used, raped, slaved and practically driven by a goddess of beauty to the point of madness.he tends to escape but the car is empty of gas, and soon she drags him back inside for more sexual desires.there they are joined with the surreal third presence of a woman who just adds to his misery as he is tortured half to death.the scenes with shokof design with fruits which show up in most his films in sign of liveliness of an atmosphere play themselves out beautifully join contrast to what in actuality is being seen in every scene. the poor fella tries to escape again and even manages to drive out of the house and into the woods where he is soon escorted by the evil surreal third presence in the back seat of the car.the woman screams his ears full until the car crashes and now he has to run through the woods to get somewhere and free himself from the nightmare he got himself into. but does he?! would he?! and even if all this was a fact are we watching a film that is there to make sense with a sensibly ending?! i for one was touched all throughout the film and was aware i again am watching a film by someone who makes (amenic films) without any respect for what anyone might expect from watching his films.absolutely on his own way creating pictures that move with no regards for what they should mean or who is there to see them.he concludes again in this film like many of his films a result he sees fit for this film and this is how iy ends.just very God-Like if you asked me where we all go through incredible lives having almost no idea why it had to start to begin with?! right?! another 10 for shokofmaniatically absurd film.loved it.
Breathful (2007)
wonderfully bright, funny and fresh like waterfalls
i saw this film with a lot of expectations and it delivered.like most shokof films it is an exploitation film made with seemingly a low budget in Berlin, Germany with a few first timers in front of the camera but the film delivers due to masterful directing.it is in my opinion one of shokof's best works.it is so funny, so free, so ahead of time on many occasions but also filled with goofs and remarkable buster keaton type of scenes where one has to just know his works to appreciate the whole film.the film is loaded with gorgeous women from Taies Farzan to Narges Rashidi who in my opinion never shines better in other films and jasmin wagner, and almost everyone else who all gathered to deliver a hilarious comedy .i sure wished this movie could go on big screen, just so that the only scene with a Male part in it( shokof,s own nose) could be seen in an exaggerated manner as it is shot to be viewed that way.the film is stupid when it wants to be and incredibly fresh with turn and twists that can just only happen with a mind like shokof.it is a delight to watch. i am a shokof crazy fan and devastated with his touch on almost every issue he makes a film about.i for one am in eternal anticipation when his new work is out?a great tribute also to the freedom of women and all that goes with it.just loved it;the score is also great.
