The Last Kingdom (2015)
Love, love, love
I've loved this series but now, watching the last and final, one thing is really bugging me ... surely Lady Aelswith (Eliza Butterfield) could be made to look older?!? Close ups of her reveal not one single wrinkle or double chin - just doesn't work.
Belfast (2021)
Great job, Ken!
Wonderfully evocative and emotional film from Sir Ken. Super performances from all involved but particularly Jude, who plays Buddy. He was fantastic! Very moving scenes but also very funny in places. Soundtrack also inspired ...
Don't Look Up (2021)
Brilliant take on US and social media!
Really enjoyed this film - very different and satirical about how social media (and certain political parties) seems to have overtaken everything in this world! Excellent performances from Leo and Cate Blanchett particularly. M.
The Lighthouse (2019)
Bonkers but brilliant
This film is mad and about madness. But who is mad? And Are they truly mad? The black and white, with the framing, creates a sinister and disturbing world. The switching of focus from character to another in terms of who is the villain and who is the tormented creates questions which are never really answered. Acting is superb. Not for everyone and I would suggest watching when you can concentrate ...
Clickbait (2021)
Gripping and lots of twists!
Couldn't stop watching this ... interesting and different to many of the normal cop shows on atm. Couldn't stand Pia's character (not sure if we supposed to like her ...) but felt for all the others! Loved the red Herrings .. and thought the ending was fine! Sad in some ways but ...
Beckett (2021)
Worth watching
Bit of a slow start but really picked up about half way through. Agree with other reviewers about realistic filming: fight scenes and the protest as examples. Plot got a tad confusing in places and I wasn't sure who was who but overall not a bad film. Some fantastic location shots too!
The Secrets She Keeps (2020)
Gripping!
First episode I wasn't sure but this series turned into a binge watch for me! Dark, and with some pretty good twists, the story of Agatha and Megan is brilliantly done. Agatha especially gets more and more bonkers in a sinister way whilst the 2nd plot lines about extra-marital affairs add to the tension.
Lazzaro felice (2018)
Wonderful
Yep to all previous positive reviews. No more to add. Just beautiful.
The Virtues (2019)
Very hard to watch but Graham is excellent!
Emotionally draining but the acting was fabulous in this! The early scene between him and son was stunning and honest. Other reviews have criticised the plot but having only seen one episode, I found it perfectly fine. Can't wait for the rest!
