Home Is Where I Lay (2022)
Annabella and Jackson
Home Is Where I Lay (2022) perfectly captures the cabin fever aspect of the unfamiliar settings. Similar to The Shining, the film uses its setting to not only be atmospheric but also address some heavier topics. As someone who has been hurt by the church and someone still active in the church, my viewing of Home feels like a really unique place. The authority element that the film addresses within the church is heartbreakingly accurate. Annabella Rich brilliantly serves as the archetype for the mental health of those of us who have been hurt. I don't know if it's just my viewing and past experience but this film feels extremely personal. In its that vulnerability that the horror thrives.
Saving Faith (2022)
Saving Faith - masterpiece!
Saw this at a film festival not long ago. The film is excellent. A lunchtime Alcoholics Anonymous meeting is in session at the historical John Street Methodist Church in the financial district of downtown New York City. Bill, a crippled atheist and highly successful N. Y. stockbroker, is in attendance after a recent car accident the night before while drinking and driving has injured an 8-year old girl and critically injured her father. He encounters a mysterious presence who catapults him down a rabbit hole of repressed memories, and regret. Story is well-written, acting is exquisite and editing is professional. I urge everyone to see this masterpiece.
Never Hike in the Snow (2020)
Great on so many levels just minus flaws
This was a great Friday 13 fan film. Jason Vorhees was fantastic in this one and the main guy who portrayed him did a great job. Great acting from the cast all around and they did some things that surprised me. Wasn't so keen on the ending. Without spoiling anything I was wished it cut the chase a bit more.
Dead Again (2021)
A brilliant lockdown movie
Thought it was spectacular! The Shaun of the Dead esk feature is a sight to behold. Stupendous performances from all around. Steven Smith's done it again!
Odd Pod: The Movie... kinda (2021)
Really embarrassing
I just expected something better from Sam Bictor. Not very good at all
