As if the commitments did punk and were even more likeable.
Dublin Crust is raw but why shouldn't it be? It's about a guy getting out of jail, setting his life right and putting his punk rock band back together for one last show and trust me, that just adds to the charm.
The music is good, the humour is endearing and the characters are played perfectly.
For a truly independent film, Dublin Crust should have no right to pack the punch it does. Yet this movie hits the mark dead on.
You don't need to be in any particular frame of mind or mood to enjoy Crust, the film does all the work. It's an easy and enjoyable watch, well written and well concieved.
I've been recommending this movie to anyone who will listen to me so please treat yourself and give it a watch.

Look out for the outstanding lead baddie as McEwan shows a super entertaining side to her wide range. I'm convinced there's more to come.
This movie does as promised. It entertains.
You wanna see a cool baddie chase down some hapless meandering fools in the woods with plenty jump scares, mishaps and tension.
It's got that entertainment factor and that's all that matters. Worth a watch on the sofa with some pizza, don't think too hard and take the thrills as the come along. Even have a shout at the intrepid hikers for every folly they make on their madcap quest. To be enjoyed for what it is and not scrutinised too close.
One of those films you'd be delighted and surprised at pulling off the shelf as a blockbuster find in the old days.

Knowing full well the limited budget of indie films this little gem absolutely sparkles.
It's indie so you have to expect elements to be exactly that. Where the team behind this film can shine they truly grab the opportunity with both hands.
The lead displays incredibly natural awkwardness which is genuinely funny and the supporting cast do everything you'd expect people in their characters situation to do.
The interactions are everything. The female who turns up is chamringly bewildered but is engaged fully as you'd expect by Tom's enthusiasm.
His camera man almost seeming to work against him. Not just responding to the main character but going about his business like you'd expect from a wilful camera man.
The film does well in story too. Most ghost movies end up with an ending which seems quite flimsy. Here, you get the plausible (for a ghost story) not easy to do at all but in this case most satisfying.
