Top Gun: Maverick (2022)

Excellent sequel

The perfect sequel to the original movie. Nice story line, good acting, some funny moments and lots of adrenaline. They managed to keep the original vibes while giving the movie a more modern cut. The airplane fights are really excellent!

Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)

Irrelevant storyline, bad direction, bad dubbing

After all the waiting and hype, I was expecting something better than this, but I should have known better...

Recently Star Wars has become all about:

• Disrespecting iconic characters (e.g. Luke, Obi Wan), showing them as weakened and broken, especially if representative of "toxic masculinity";
• Introducing new irrelevant characters portrayed by mediocre actors; all new characters must be chosen in specific ethnic groups to enforce an unnecessary D&I concept that is out of place in a sci-fi movie;
• Weak plots with no added value to the story, which is diluted in several episodes just to create more material to watch.

The Italian dubbing is awful. Some words were "Italianised" directly from English, they don't really make sense.

Examples: "Classified" translated as "Classificato" instead of "Riservato" (altering the meaning); "Remote (control)" translated as "Remoto" which is an adjective and completely unrelated to an actual remote control.

In my opinion, Rogue One remains the only spin off worth to be seen so far.

10 giorni senza mamma (2019)

Usual stereotypes, moderate humour

This movie builds on the nowadays common stereotypes where mothers don't have a job in spite of being truly brilliant, being able to steer through a myriad of daily chores and activities with kids while working fathers are completely useless, showing that they would never cope with switching roles, not even for 10 days. I find this rather sexist and insulting.

Apart from this there are some fun situations here and there, but overall it's just below average humour.

Oblivion (2013)

Fascinating plot, wonderful music

One of Tom Cruise's technological movies, but with a nice plot with some good twists. I really enjoyed M83's soundtrack, very involving and evocative.

Singularity (2017)

Poor story, terrible acting

The story is plainly bad, lots of plot holes and the actors are really terrible, especially the main character (!). Many parts make no sense at all. Also: there is no singularity at all in the whole movie. I wonder if the title was randomly generated. Definitely not worth watching.

Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)

Really boring

This is not Star Wars, and not even a compelling story. My advice: it's not worth watching.

The Purge (2018)

Very slow, weak plot, bad acting

I viewed all the episodes so far, hoping to see the show improve with time, but the plot is very week, the sub-stories are switching too fast, the acting is very bad, the developments are simply not interesting at all, and very easy to predict.

Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)

Much below my expectations

The main issue of this movie is the storyline: it's really trivial and has so many holes it's difficult to make sense of it. I was definitely not pleased with the role of Luke, nor with Snoke's or Kylo's. It really seems to me that whoever came up with the story either did not care much or deeply misunderstood the saga. The humour is out of place, and characters are underdeveloped. It's really a shame the saga was mistreated this way.
