I know this is not a popular opinion for fans of the show, however, this series turned into a complete mess by Season 4. I hung on through the first three seasons as there was some watchable stuff in there, enough to keep me watching. But by S4 the series became a mess. It is so fragmented with time travel, confusing and convoluted stories and convenient situations for the sake of filling in plot holes it lost any sense of cohesiveness. Worse yet, there is just endless filler to stretch out the story. They should have found a way to wrap this up in three seasons. The whole bouncing around every 30 seconds from the past, to the way past, to present day, back to somewhere else in the past was a poorly written and directed disaster. Not to mention the island moved thousands of miles during the time shifts? Please. That is so far fetched that even the term science fiction or fantasy can't redeem it. I never watched this when it first came out but gave it a try when it hit streaming. I won't be finishing the rest of the seasons. Lost? You lost me.
Very narrow slice of what happened according to a handful of residents who were not the best educated or even articulate. When you are so caught up in your religion that you think the tornado is the rapture, you get the idea of this "documentary" better suited for a regional showing. There is no depth, no range or even focus on anything except a handful of young people who experienced it.
If you are expecting anything of quality or depth such as the type of documentary produced by Rory Kennedy or others of her caliber, look elsewhere.
Bottom line: I got weary of narrow minded, ultra religious, low IQ survivors attempting to convey what really happened. This would have been much better had it focused on a broader scientific look at what caused this to form, and then presenting a true picture of the devastation. Grade school quality production at best.

Right from the start I felt as if I had come in to the middle of a film and missed all of the character development and introductory narrative that set necessary background. It's as though bits and pieces of other Western movies and books had been thrown up into the air and wherever they landed is how this was put together.
The settling of the Old West, Indian Wars and Cattle Wars are of a special interest to me. I have an entire wall of books dedicated to the subject and era -- and I tell you, this was a mess. It is a series of disjointed vignettes that don't explain what was going on with the settlers, Native Americans and the grab for land.
Doubtful I will watch any of the upcoming continuation of this mess.
