Band of Brothers: Points (2001)
The epilogue
This review contains spoilers for the tenth and final episode of Band of Brothers entitled "Points."
The war in Europe is declared to be over and Easy Company remains in Germany awaiting their return home. The United States has devised a point system to determine the priority for the soldier's trip home. The episode follows Richard Winters as the company goes their separate ways.
This episode is a pure conclusion to the soldiers in Band of Brothers. The war is officially over and the troops are relaxing until they can go back home. This episode was both shocking and heartwarming to see the last moments the company would be together.
I loved watching this series and it was great to have final thoughts on each of the surviving soldiers. It genuinely felt like the soldiers cared for one another and trusted each other completely.
I would recommend "Points." The last episode is a tame and satisfying conclusion to Band of Brothers.
Grade: B.
Band of Brothers: Why We Fight (2001)
The German countryside
This review contains spoilers for the ninth episode of Band of Brothers entitled "Why We Fight".
Easy Company is occupying Germany and the company as a whole believes the war is over. Adolf Hitler has committed suicide and the Allies are pushing deeper into Germany. This episode follows Captain Lewis Nixon who is at his lowest point. As Captain Lewis Nixon scrounges for alcohol, a patrol by Easy Company discovers something horrifying in the German woods.
This episode of Band of Brothers is a study on the episode's question. Lewis Nixon questions his own resolve at seeing the deaths of his comrades. As the episode continues and Easy Company finds the concentration camp, Nixon and the audience understands why they must fight.
This is one of the most gut wrenching episodes as Easy Company is confronted with the horrors the Nazis inflicted on their "undesirables." Like Perconte, it was difficult to explain what they had encountered. It was rough watching Easy Company handle a crisis they were not prepared for.
It is a great choice choice to follow Captain Lewis Nixon. Lewis Nixon was always portrayed as competent officer that was one of Richard Winters' friends. To see this man encounter such a rough situation was emotional to see.
"Why We Fight" is one of the best Band of Brothers episodes. It demands a watch.
Grade: A.
Band of Brothers: The Last Patrol (2001)
The beginning of the end
This review contains spoilers for the eighth episode of Band of Brothers entitled "The Last Patrol."
The eighth episode of Band of Brothers takes place after the end of The Battle of the Bulge. Easy Company is weary after The Battle of the Bulge. David Webster reintegrates into Easy Company to carry out a mission. David Webster was wounded from Operation Market Garden and missed out on the envelopment of the 101st Airborne at Bastogne.
This episode is one of the more quieter episodes as the focus character of David Webster is different from other enlisted men. David Webster could have been an officer but chose to be a private. He also refused any promotions and chose to remain a private throughout the war. This already gives a different feel to the episode as David Webster is more of an observer. He is also treated as such as he did not participate in The Battle of the Bulge as the other parts of his company did.
I enjoyed this episode a lot for its different tone. At this point in the war, victory for the Allies was certain as Germany had been depleted. The series begins to transition into the epilogue of the war as both Easy Company and the audience is weary of seeing fallen comrades.
I would recommend "The Last Patrol." This is the start of the epilogue to Band of Brothers.
Grade: B.
Band of Brothers: The Breaking Point (2001)
The change of leadership
This review contains spoilers for the seventh episode of Band of Brothers entitled "The Breaking Point."
In this episode, Easy Company is still mired by The Battle of the Bulge. Relief has come for Easy Company and they are called on for battles near Foy, Belgium. The episode focuses on First Sergeant Carwood Lipton as he narrates Easy Company's forays and Norman Dike's inadequacies as a leader. The company faces its greatest trial yet as they must assault Foy and deal with low morale.
The choice to follow Carwood Lipton is great. Carwood narrates much of this episode and drives the mood of the episode. Normally narration is not needed in episodes like these, but it was required to reflect the situation Carwood sees. As Carwood is a first Sergeant, he is able to understand what the enlisted men go through. This was reflected well in this episode.
The conflict with the company officer, Norman Dike, comes to a head in this episode. I liked how this plot was resolved in this episode. The resolution made a lot of sense with Spiers taking over at the command of Richard Winters.
This episode's assault on Foy is great to watch. The direction and the writing is fantastic.
"The Breaking Point" is highly recommended. This is one of the best episodes of Band of Brothers.
Grade: A.
Band of Brothers: Bastogne (2001)
Nuts
This review contains spoilers for the sixth episode of Band of Brothers entitled "Bastogne".
The sixth episode titled Bastogne follows medic Eugene Roe, a private in Easy Company. The Battle of the Bulge is underway. Easy Company is surrounded by the German army and the front-line is barely holding. Eugene Roe scavenges for supplies amidst an increasingly untenable situation.
Bastogne is a hard episode to watch. Easy Company is placed into increasingly bad situations as the front-line is strained. There are many hard to watch scenes in this episode. One of the changes from the previous episodes is the switch of officers from Richard Winters to Norman Dike. The episode shows that Norman Dike is not a competent commander and this exacerbates the problems Easy Company faces.
The choice to follow Eugene Roe is also a great one. The episodes that follow enlisted soldiers have a more grounded view from the foot soldier's perspective. The viewer will see the sad situation that the enlisted men find themselves in. It was great to watch The Battle of the Bulge with action and the lack of supplies the American airborne divisions suffered from.
This episode is incredibly well directed. The snow and battles are beautiful to look at. The sound design in the episode is well done. I found this episode to be incredibly high production values. Bastogne and The Battle of the Bulge is incredible to behold.
I highly recommend the sixth episode of Band of Brothers entitled "Bastogne". This is one of the best episodes of Band of Brothers.
Grade: A.
Band of Brothers: Crossroads (2001)
Midway
This review contains spoilers for the fifth episode of Band of Brothers entitled "Crossroads".
The fifth episode of Band of Brothers is as the episode's title suggests is a crossroads episode. The episode is from Richard Winters' point of view as Easy Company is still reeling from Operation Market Garden. Richard Winters grapples with his conscience after leading an attack on a German camp that led to the death of a young German soldier. Easy Company is holding the front-line as they embark on Operation Pegasus to evacuate a British airborne unit trapped behind enemy lines.
This episode does not have much going on in the main narrative. Easy Company has a lull as they are more or less holding the line and interacting with the civilians they are there to liberate. The main assault on the German camp is great to watch but only serves to have more character development for Richard Winters. Easy Company eases up in this episode and the side characters in the company have good lines.
The ending of this episode is also a great lead up to the next few episodes. The Germans smash the United States army's lines as part of a coordinated assault during the winter. Easy Company is dispatched to reinforce the front-line in Bastogne. On the way there they discover retreating army soldiers that have been part of the battle. This scene was great to show the struggle Easy Company saw as the rest of the army participated in.
Crossroads is a recommended episode. It is required to watch this episode before the Battle of the Bulge episodes begin.
Grade: B.
Band of Brothers: Replacements (2001)
Replacements in Market Garden
This review contains spoilers for the fourth episode of Band of Brothers entitled "Replacements".
The fourth episode of Band of Brothers ends the campaign in France. Easy Company had suffered casualties from the D-Day landings, and the capture and defense of Carentan. Replacements have been brought in to bring the company back to full strength. Easy Company embarks on Operation Market Garden, a radical operation proposed to end the war in Europe by Christmas of 1944.
"Replacements" follows Denver "Bull" Randleman, a sergeant in Easy Company. As with the previous episode of Carentan, the perspective follow the enlisted men more. This is important as this is one of the episodes where the operation goes poorly. Easy Company is forced to retreat as the Germans are able to repel Operation Market Garden with ease. Sergeant Denver is cut off from his line sand must survive on his own as his company executes a hasty retreat.
This episode is great for many small reasons. The replacements are treated poorly by veterans of Easy Company. This makes a lot of sense as the company sees these replacement as filler for the people that they have lost. The replacements also perform worse than the veterans of the company. This is a great adaptation from Stephen E. Ambrose's book of the same name that describes this dynamic. The other great touch is the communication between the United States' soldiers and Commonwealth soldiers. I enjoyed the dynamic between the U. K. and U. S. soldiers and even the miscommunication that arose.
The episode did touch on the emotional aspects of Operation Market Garden. Many civilians were present during the operation and it is shown in the episode.
I highly recommend the Band of Brothers episode "Replacements".
Grade: A.
Band of Brothers: Carentan (2001)
Carentan
This review contains spoilers for the third episode of Band of Brothers entitled "Carentan".
The episode picks up where Day of Days left off. The airborne company is behind enemy lines and now seeks to capture the important crossroad town of Carentan. The episode follows the perspective of Albert Blithe as he deals with his first entry into combat. Easy Company must take the town of Carentan and defend it from a counter attack.
From the beginning to the end of this episode, the focus is on combat and action. This episode is one of the most action heavy episodes. The assault on Carentan and the defense from the counter attack is impressive to watch in a miniseries. The budget and pieces in this episode are great to watch. The viewer can see mortars, Shermans, German soldiers and tanks. The action is a great component of this episode.
The episode's focus on Albert Blithe is also a positive. The mini-series finally shifts away from Richard Winters to another soldier in Easy Company. This shift makes the show follow the enlisted men more. This makes the episode more on the action and the front-lines. Albert Bltihe in this episode has to deal with shell-shock as the result of combat. With Richard Winters' help, Albert Blithe is able to recover and deal with his problem better. I enjoyed this story-line a lot as it focused on the normal enlisted man.
One fact the episode gets wrong is Albert Blithe's death. I am not sure how the show did not get the detail correct. This is the only historical flaw in this episode and I wish it was corrected.
I highly recommend the third episode of Band of Brothers.
Grade: A.
Band of Brothers: Day of Days (2001)
The start of combat
This review contains spoilers for the second episode of Band of Brothers entitled "Day of Days".
Day of Days starts with the D-Day para-drops. Easy Company has been loaded into C-47s and is en-route to France. The company is dropped into France amidst anti-aircraft fire and Germans occupying France. Easy Company is scattered and must locate other parts of the company and form a cohesive fighting force.
Day of Days is a great start into why some people watch war movies: the action. The episode highlights Richard Winters played by Damian Lewis. He organizes what men he could find to begin establishing a front against the Germans. He finds others in boot-camp and they try to fight the Germans. The series shows the tactics that Easy Company used especially in the last scene with the paratrooper assault on the 8.8 centimeter German artillery guns. This scene and the scene leading up to it are great.
The series high production values is shown here with the great costumes, props, and sets. The viewers feels like they are in France.
The second episode of Band of Brothers is highly recommended.
Grade: A.
Band of Brothers: Currahee (2001)
Boot-camp beginnings
This review contains spoilers for the first episode of Band of Brothers entitled "Currahee".
The first episode of Band of Brothers is entitled Currahee and introduces Easy Company of the 101st Airborne Division in boot-camp where they find a strict disciplinarian in Herbert Sobel. Officer Herbert Sobel disciplines and drills the men harder than the other companies. Over time, Sobel's inadequacies are discovered and the men of Easy Company must make a decision.
The first episode is a great introduction to Easy Company. The episode follows Herbert Sobel and Richart Winters played by David Schwimmer and Damian Lewis respectively. The episode has no action and the episode is meant to show the company bonding over Sobel's incompetency. Sobel is presented as an incompetent officer that loses the confidence of his men.
The episode has great scenes. When Easy Company moves to England to continue their training, the episode changes its style. The training becomes more real with the scenarios becoming more realistic for the trainees. This also shows the high budget of the show and the episode resembles production from a high budget movie.
I highly recommend the first episode of Band of Brothers. This episode is a good introduction to the characters and to understand the tone of the rest of the series.
Grade: A.
Moonfall (2022)
Dumb disaster movie
This review contains spoilers.
Moonfall is a disaster movie that premiered in 2022 and is directed by Roland Emmerich. An alien nanomachine swarms through space and begins tunneling into the moon. This causes the moon to begin a gradual descent into the Earth. The movie features this disaster from a few human perspectives, namely the characters related to the astronauts in the fateful mission.
Moonfall is an incredibly dumb movie. This movie has set pieces and a plot that the movie wanted to implement. The how and explanations are contrived to make the plot happen. These explanations are not founded in science and are founded in the ridiculous disasters that Roland Emmerich wanted to create on the screen. Many natural disasters are present on the screen and this is the reason for the movie's existence.
The disasters themselves are impressive to look at. Most of the disasters in this movie are water related. These are impressive to look at but they do get repetitive as one can only see waves sweeping into cities enough times until it gets boring. There are an absurd amount of boats crashing into things. The disasters that are new are a gravity lift that makes some scenes feel fresh.
The main problem in Moonfall is that there is no emotional core. The movie has main characters and a cast that the audience can follow. However, the way these characters develop is incredibly stiff and the dialogue is awful. There are jokes to be found in the dialogue but the dialogue does not tell the audience more about the characters. The actors and actresses do a good job in the action scenes.
The movie takes an insane turn. It is revealed that the movie is setting up a larger world with the ancestor humans and the artificial intelligence swarm. The movie did not build this up at all and this becomes the focus for the movie in the last moments. The movie uses this war between organics and artificial intelligence as the main drive to set up the sequels. This felt out of place in a movie about a disaster.
I would not recommend "Moonfall" directed by Roland Emmerich.
Grade: D.
The King's Man (2021)
An excellent period piece and prequel
This review contains spoilers.
The King's Man is an action spy movie that premiered in 2021. The movie is a prequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service that premiered in 2014. The movie explores the origin of the Kingsman spy service that is set in the time of World War One.
The King's Man is a fantastic movie for fans of the Kingsman series. Much like the previous movies, The King's Man is a globe trotting adventure. The main character of the Oxford family goes across a world-wide adventure in a bid to stop The Great War. The premise to this is a lot of fun as the movie's villain is the organization known as The Flock. The Flock is a fun adversary organization to the spy organization by presenting strong villainous characters.
Rasputin is one of the members of The Flock. Rasputin is one of the best adversaries in this movie and he was played in an entertaining way by Rhys Ifans. The fight scene between Orlando and Rasputin is fun to watch. These fight scenes are impressive to watch and wildly entertaining. However, this is the problem with the movie. The movie meanders between action scenes without much connection between them.
The final act has Orlando and his team assault The Shepard's compound. The movie had stakes, but it felt like the movie lost its spark at impressing the audience. The final act has the team not doing anything special in this encounter. This is meant as a climax but the movie did not operate well in having this be the most impressive action scene. The previous scene with a knife fight between British soldiers and German soldiers was much more visceral and impressive.
The action scenes in this movie are worth the price of admission. Although the plot may not operate on the same level as the action, the action is choreographed in such a visceral way that audiences will be impressed and satisfied. It is a shame that the movie did not do better at the box office and this was a fantastic action movie that was released in the past decade.
I would recommend "The King's Man" directed by Matthew Vaughn.
Grade: B.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017)
Derivative and bland
This review contains spoilers.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle is the sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service. The movie follows Taron Egerton as Egsy whom is now a Kingsman agent. The Golden Circle has destroyed the Kingsman and now seeks to dominate the world. The Kingsman must make contact with the Statesman and thwart The Golden Circle.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle attempts to do a lot in its run-time. The movie tells the story of the destruction of the Kingsman, Egsy's relationship with the Swedish princess, the rise of the Golden Circle, the discovery of the Statesman, and the recovery of Harry's memories. The movie does all of this and perhaps does too much. All of these plots detract from the others and do not relate to each other in meaningful ways. Egsy's relation with the princess is constantly being brought up as his motivation but the movie does not make the audience care at all in the movie. This is not the only bloat in the movie. The President of the United States talking with Poppy is also superfluous. The scenes were funny but it had detracted from the stories the audience actually cared about.
The Statesman are a more ridiculous form of the Kingsman. The only reason they were introduced was because the Kingsman were wiped out and to bring back Harry after his apparent death in the first movie. This felt like a missed opportunity as the Kingsman characters were likable. There were plenty of characters that could have been introduced but the movie decided to go for an American story. The Statesmen felt like a missed opportunity as none of them felt memorable. Tequila, played by Channing Tatum, is not in any notable scenes. The setting in the United States is interesting but it is primarily used to have action set pieces.
The action in this movie is great. The action set pieces are creative and fun. The actors and action scenes are the best components of this movie as all the actors and actresses seem to be having a lot of fun in this movie.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle is fun but is overly bloated. I enjoyed the movie but other action movies are recommended over this movie.
Grade: C.
Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014)
Over the top spy movie
This review contains spoilers.
Kingsman: The Secret Service is a spy movie that premiered in 2014. The movie is based on a comic book series The Secret Service. The movie follows a young Englishman named Eggsy who follows in his father's footsteps in becoming a Kingsman.
Kingsman: The Secret Service is an utterly ridiculous movie. This movie has excellent action sequences that are directed by Matthew Vaughn. It is supremely entertaining to watch this movie solely for the action sequences. The action sequences are also creative and fresh in its presentation and setup. There are many sequences that had an interesting twist.
The dialogue in this movie is one of the best parts of the movie. The dialogue had me laughing whenever Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, or Taron Egerton were on the screen. These three had a great presence and their lines were delivered in an exciting way. Samuel L. Jackson playing Richmond Valentine had one of the most hilarious roles I have seen for Samuel L. Jackson and he plays it magnificently. I did not find any faults with his role and his villainous goal was even entertaining to play out on the screen.
Sofia Boutella did an excellent job in her role as the side kick to Richmond Valentine. Sofia Boutella had great choreographed action scenes and her role was intimidating to the intensely trained Eggsy. It was awesome watching her and Eggsy duel in the climax.
Colin Firth plays the father figure to Eggsy and he is phenomenal in the role. Colin Firth brings stoic charm to the movie and it makes for exciting scenes when he and Taron Egerton are on the screen. These scenes have a wholesome quality to them.
I highly recommend 'Kingsman: The Secret Service'.
Grade: B.
The Mist (2007)
A horror classic
This review contains spoilers.
The Mist is a horror movie that premiered in 2007. The movie features a family in New England as an otherworldly mist engulfs the area. The family are trapped in the grocery store as the otherworldly mist contains monsters. The father and son must band together with other survivors to find a way forward.
The Mist is a fantastic movie. This movie is paced out in such a quick firing way that the audience would not get bored. The movie almost entirely takes place in one location. The grocery store is an interesting location as the movie uses the pacing to drive the character interactions. All of these character interactions feel authentic and it feels like something strangers would say to one another. The interactions help the audience understand each of the characters. The movie wastes no time in these interactions to remind the audience how dangerous and damaged a human can be.
The Mist has excellent casting. All of the actors and actresses contribute meaningfully in each of their scenes. I feel there is no weak link in the casting. All of the actors and actresses react realistically upon encountering the monstrous creatures in the mist. Likewise the creature design in this movie is excellent. The creatures have an appropriate otherworldliness to them. They feel like an invasive species that has no equal in our world. The creatures are computer generated imagery but they feel like real creatures as the cast react realistically frightened by them. These are monsters that are intimidating because every time they appear, a character will perish.
The one aspect of the movie that most can have trouble with is the low budget. This movie's budget is reflected in the production. This is a movie that focuses on the plot and the characters. The audience can find unenjoyable aspects in the story. After the characters escape the grocery store, the truck runs out of fuel and the characters meet an untimely end. This is a courageous ending that took a lot of guts to execute.
I would recommend "The Mist" directed by Frank Darabont.
Grade: B.
Glorious (2022)
Contained low budget horror
This review contains spoilers.
Glorious is a drama horror movie that premiered in 2022. The movie is about a heartbroken man that encounters an eldritch monster in a bathroom. The movie explores Wes' psyche by diving into it as the eldritch being probes his mind. He also has to come to terms with his recent break up.
Glorious is a unique movie that takes inspiration from other movies set in a small location. This is similar to a movie like Saw where the characters spend the runtime of the movie in a bathroom. This is a movie that is interspersed with flashbacks of Wes and his dwindling sanity. The movie depends on the performances of Ryan Kwanten and the voice of J. K. Simmons.
The performances of Ryan Kwanten and J. K. Simmons are the entire movie. This is a good aspect if the audience enjoys J. K. Simmons. These two actors put on a fantastic performance that carries the movie's entertainment. They have good chemistry in the movie even though J. K. Simmons is a disembodied voice.
There is a reveal in this movie where Wes is a serial killer is a strange touch. This movie plays up Wes' emotional state and shows how unstable of an emotional state that he is in when he encounters Ghatanoathoa. However at the end, Wes is revealed to have killed his girlfriend and this may have been the reason for Ghatanoathoa choosing him in the first place. The movie treats this reveal as a twist but this was a bizarrely crafted twist. Wes is a bad person but would a serial killer feel remorse this heavily if they had done multiple murders before?
I would recommend "Glorious" directed by Rebekah McKendry. The movie leans heavily on J. K. Simmons and Ryan Kwanten and this leads to good onscreen chemistry.
Grade: C.
Underwater (2020)
Tense throughout
This review contains spoilers.
Underwater is a science-fiction horror movie that premiered in 2020. The movie follows a crew in an underwater drilling operation. The drilling operation becomes hazardous and it forces the crew to evacuate when the base becomes unstable.
Underwater does not let up in the tension and action. From the beginning, the audience is immediately put into the same crisis mode that the characters are in. The drilling base becomes unstable and the characters must evacuate. This is one of the best attributes of the movie as there is a lot of tension and engagement as soon as the movie begins. The audience is able to follow Kristen Stewart's character of Norah Price effectively.
Kristen Stewart portrays an engineer on the deep sea drilling platform. The role does not test Kristen Stewart's acting ability. Much like her older roles, she is incredibly stone faced at times. This is appropriate for her character and it is interesting to see her in a horror movie. It would have been more interesting to see her show fear in other ways than complete surprise.
As the crew attempt to escape the drilling base, they encounter deep sea monsters. The audience gets a few clean glimpses at the monsters. These monsters are certainly inspired by H. P. Lovecraft's writing. By extension, this movie is an excellent creature movie that introduces the monsters of Lovecraft convincingly. However, the characters do not suffer from insanity when they see the monsters. Even with this minor change, this is a great movie for fans of H. P. Lovecraft. The audience are introduced to the threat with quick pacing and the characters have appropriate reactions.
The sets of the movie look great. The movie feels like a deep sea mining platform. The water is a threat to the characters and camouflage for the deep sea monsters. The movie keeps this in mind and the audience can feel tension each time the characters enter the water. The use of the environment added much to the movie.
I would recommend "Underwater" directed by William Eubank.
Grade: B.
The Bob's Burgers Movie (2022)
Excellent TV show to movie
This review contains spoilers.
The Bob's Burgers movie is an animated comedy movie that premiered in 2022. The movie is based on the Bob's Burgers animated television show. The same characters from the television show are present in the movie with a few new characters being present in the movie. The movie takes a murder mystery at the heart of the plot. The Belcher children investigate the crime while Linda and Bob are attempting to deal with the bank repossessing their restaurant equipment.
The Bob's Burgers movie is an excellent movie that adds a lot to the Bob's Burgers series as a whole. Any movie watcher that comes from the background of watching the television series will find much to enjoy here. The main cast is present and they all have their moments to shine. This is one of the best aspects of the movie as it takes the Belcher focus and extends it to a movie length. The Belchers are fun and it shows that with a movie budget the show would do fantastic.
The movie may not attract more fans to the series. The movie is enjoyable and highlights many strengths that the television show has. This movie feels like an extended episode in all the best ways. The movie is more of an episode with the Belchers and Fischoeders. This is a good focus as I always enjoyed the episodes with these two groups from the television series. The movie will disappoint if the audience expected more characters from the television show to appear such as Hugo the health inspector.
The overall plot of the murder mystery was interesting but predictable. The movie introduced a new Fischoeder character that was absolutely suspect.
I would recommend "The Bob's Burgers Movie" directed by Lorren Bouchard and Bernard Derriman.
Grade: B.
Bob's Burgers: Yes Without My Zeke (2019)
Good episode but stale season
This review contains spoilers.
"Yes Without My Zeke" is the season nine finale of Bob's Burgers. The episode centers around the Belcher children as they try to get Zeke to behave so that he does not become reassigned to another school. Randy the director returns to shoot a movie in Bob's restaurant.
The episode is solid and features good performances from the children. This was the best part of the episode.
I would recommend "Yes Without My Zeke".
Grade: B
Bob's Burgers Season Nine
The season overall felt stale without many distinct episodes. There are still great episodes in this season with "The Gene Mile", and "Yes Without My Zeke" being part of the good episodes.
I would recommend Bob's Burgers Season Nine.
Grade: B.
Bob's Burgers: Something Old, Something New, Something Bob Caters for You (2018)
Some stand-out episodes
This review contains spoilers.
'Something Old, Something New, Something Bob Caters for You' is the eighth season finale. The episode has the Belchers catering for a wedding with the bride and groom having newly met.
The episode is overall solid but is missing a grand finale for the finale. The episode has merit and is nice to watch.
I would recommend "Something Old, Something New, Something Bob Caters for You".
Grade: C
Bob's Burgers Season Eight
There are some stand-out episodes for the eighth season of Bob's Burgers. These episodes are "The Bleakening", "Y Tu Ga-Ga Tambien", "Boywatch". The season does feel less of a retread than the previous seasons and it is enjoyable at times.
I would recommend the eighth season of Bob's Burgers.
Grade: B.
Bob's Burgers: Into the Mild (2017)
Great closing episode
This review contains spoilers.
"Into the Mild" is the season seven finale of Bob's Burgers. Bob Belcher finds himself trapped in a wilderness survival store after he falls asleep in a tent. Meanwhile Linda and Gayle argue over whether who saw Delta Burke.
The episode is enjoyable with its main story with Bob being the main highlight. This story has Bob working with a store assistant Austin in trying to escape from the store. The episode is memorable when Bob is forced to do physical activity and possibly overexert himself.
I would recommend "Into the Mild".
Grade: C
Bob's Burgers Season Seven
The seventh season of Bob's Burgers is solid but follows the same trend as season six. The season starts off strong with "Flu-ouise", "Teen-a Witch", and "Aquaticism". The seventh season has highlights but overall has some of the tiredness feeling that the sixth season does. This season is still overall more solid than the sixth and has good highlights.
I would recommend the seventh season of Bob's Burgers.
Grade: B.
Bob's Burgers: Glued, Where's My Bob? (2016)
Good but declining
This review contains spoilers.
"Glued, Where's My Bob?" is the season six finale for Bob's Burgers. Bob Belcher finds himself glued to the toilet seat when he signs up his restaurant to be featured in a magazine interview.
The episode is overall solid but misses the heights of the previous seasons with a dual episode. The episode does feature a return of many fun side characters as they interact with Bob in his sticky situation.
I would recommend "Glued, Where's My Bob?".
Grade: B
Bob's Burgers Season Six
The sixth season for Bob's Burgers is beginning to feel its age. The sixth season has good moments but there are not any great stand-out episodes. The episodes also are beginning to show its tiredness in its rehashed plots. The series plays out with its tropes and although the settings are fresh, it makes for more tiredness in its execution. The concept of the show is still good.
I would recommend Bob's Burgers Season six.
Grade: C.
Bob's Burgers: The Oeder Games (2015)
Some stand out episodes
This review contains spoilers.
The fifth season finale for Bob's Burgers is entitled "The Oeder Games". The finale has all of the Ocean Avenue tenants rebelling against Mr. Fishoeder when he raises rent. This episode has great moments with all of the tenants as they have to participate in Mr. Fishoeder's games in order for him to reduce the rent. This is a great episode though there is nothing much about the episode to make it a finale.
I would recommend "The Oeder Games".
Grade: B
Bob's Burgers Season Five
The season is overall solid with episodes that are enjoyable. However there are only a few standout episodes which are "Work Hard or Die Trying, Girl", "Tina and the Real Ghost", "Speakeasy Rider", and "Hawk & Chick". These episodes made the season memorable. However these episodes are not as great as the previous seasons. This is still a solid enough season and any fan of Bob's Burgers should watch it.
I would recommend the fifth season of Bob's Burgers.
Grade: B.
Bob's Burgers: World Wharf II: The Wharfening (or How Bob Saves/Destroys the Town - Part II) (2014)
Two-part ending
This review contains spoilers.
Bob's Burgers season 4 finale is entitled "World Wharf II: The Wharfening (or How Bob Saves/Destroys the Town - Part II)". The episode is the conclusion to the first part of "Wharf Horse (or How Bob Saves/Destroys the Town - Part I)".
This is an incredibly solid episode that completes the previous episode. Bob and Mr. Fishoeder are excellent together on the screen. The episode mixes in the silliness of Bob's Burgers with a serious plot concerning Bob and Mr. Fishoeder's impending deaths at the hands of Felix.
I highly recommend "World Wharf II: The Wharfening (or How Bob Saves/Destroys the Town - Part II)".

Bob's Burgers: The Unnatural (2013)
Hodgy season
This review contains spoilers.
"The Unnatural" is the season three finale for Bob's Burgers. Gene is involved in a scummy baseball camp as the Belcher family utilize a new Espresso machine.
This episode is incredible with each of the Belcher family members having their own story spread across the episode. Each of the family members have a quirk in this episode that makes it more enjoyable.
I would recommend "The Unnatural".
