Finally someone who made a smart decision with casting Josh in an action/comedy movie (again). Not sure if people in charge where sleeping or simply missed 'lucky number sleven' BUT this is Hartnett Deluxe!
Extremely funny, violent and charming!
As I didn't had this movie on the radar at all, I was even more excited while watching. Don't overthink the storyline, just let it happen!
The movie is currently available via amazon prime (Germany only), so we had to create an account in order to watch it. Not sure why the movie release differs from the US/ UK. On a side note, pretty sure the movie would have been successful as a theatrical release, considered by the trash that ends up on the big screen. Anyway enjoy, or not.
Excited for more!

Not a huge fan of the first but it had some moments. Not sure how you can ruin that franchise to the point that it's almost unrecognisable (apart from the smile). It's super boring and absolutely predictable. I don't understand the rated R either. Also.. what's with this new thing having an actress singing and doing a show (see 'trap') - at least that movie had a shirtless josh hartnet - trust me, this movie fails on the big scale. Give the terrifier team such a budget and never get disappointed again. I seriously don't get it. The actress is seriously boring & the role she plays is pretty annoying too. The singing doesn't help, it's confusing & the plot is just bad. Just don't! No smile is worth this nightmare of boredom.
I was way too hyped for this, obviously the comparison upfront (Se7en, Silent of the lambs) and the whole style and atmosphere from the trailer lead to my over excitement.
Considered that this genre is pretty rare (mystery, thriller, horror), it's a good movie. It's slow, however I don't mind that at all. Cage and Monroe are outstanding. It just don't help the rather predictable plot & the huge missed opportunity to give this movie an ending it deserves. Especially the ending is unbelievable, doesn't really tie in and as mentioned above was kinda obvious (however I was hoping throughout the movie that there is a better and bigger twist). I like that the mystery and psychic personality components are absolutely up to the viewer. There's lots of atmospheric stuff in the background which is beautifully visually captured, reminds a bit of 'It Follows'.
To sum it up, lower your expectations, this isn't Se7en, which isn't the point anyway as comparisons are usually not helpful, and still we often rely on them or put too much measurement into it. It definitely entertains.
