Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Was hoping to be wrong, that there was no story left to tell
Well I said it 13 years ago. There is nowhere easy to go with this story. It was an ET moment and thank god they never did a sequel to that.
It's possible, but it would take some writing to make it really worthwhile.
Apart from doing what they have done, bring back the sky people. They had to as there is nothing else to do.
Ok there are elements I didn't see coming, but I didn't think that it would ever get released.
Overall this is a very good film. But sequel to what I thought was a masterpiece, well no, it's not hitting the spot.
Maybe time has moved on and once we have seen it, we've seen it.
Perhaps the story doesn't matter and we just want stunning visual effects.
It is way too long and could have lost 50 minutes with good storytelling. But, then he couldn't have shown off his fx.
What is full of stunning visual effects doesn't make up for far more lost opportunity in storytelling. Getting back the message of harmony, balance and the symbiotic relationship of all life.
It doesn't have to be political or dark. But it has to be able to make kids stand up and know that what we are doing to this planet is the same as the sky people are to Pandora.
Go see it, expect to miss some for toilet breaks. Get a little bored and then come out feeling OK, you watched a pretty good film.
To make 3 possiblly worth it, I'm not so sure.
Clark (2022)
Fantastic Story and So Funny
Reminds me of the books by Jonas Jonasson if it wasn't all partly true. Laughed at loud at some points it's so absolutely absurd. Overall well worth a watch and just totally watchable and will be recommended highly.
Well that's all I want to say about except to go and watch it yourself and make your own mind up. Much better than I expected it was going to be.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Why so negative
OK I admit at first it was far from what I wanted. It went to places that were in my eyes not correct or valid.
But the series has now bedded itself in. We have now what the ethose of star trek is all about. It challenges us to look at ourselves now which is what the original did. Do you forget that this was all about current issues in society? Rascim, sexism and inequality. That was the morality of star trek to look outside of ourselves and measure the impact of the whole rather than the one.
STD goes in a bold direction to do something that keeps it new and so unknown.
Iove it. But maybe I'm easily pleased with having star trek back on.
The Forgiven (2017)
-Powerful forgiveness. No specific spoiler
Well this is my first ever review of any film on imdb.
This was a subtle yet powerful film. Played out with a sense of realism and not a glamorous melodrama.
I really enjoyed this and the performances of all were great. Eric Bana again knocks it out of the park, and forrest well what can you say.
The ending crept up like a patient cat waiting to strike you unexpected and... IT DID.
Well worth a watch and something that can teach you a great deal about the power of the human soul to endure and forgive.
Against all odds.
