Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul. (2022)
What was the scandal?
I found myself wondering what the whole purpose was. Love! The cast. But the storyline was super bland weird. The dude sits in the car, then gets out to laugh. What? Why is the mustang doing donuts in front of the church. It just felt all over the place. The pieces didn't quite fit, like they were trying to fill space. If this was supposed to be satire, it wasn't executed very well and if this was supposed to be...we'll whatever it was supposed to be, it wasn't executed very well. I get the play on the mega church and scandals. But there were just so many random scenes. Like why is she in the mall staring at the dudes. I'm wondering is it him or her with the scandal.
P-Valley (2020)
It Gets Better
Season 1 was cool, but season two is on another level. Now don't get me wrong, it's soft core lol, but the storyline gets deep. They show you what you don't see if you are not in their community. It was the masculine gay men for me. It was a serious story about the inner battles these men have. When Lil Murda asked Uncle Clifford, " what are you" and he responded "I'm me, who are you?" Lil Murda said, "I'm who the world won't let me be." That was deep. Because it's true. It's why so many people are giving low ratings and bad reviews. And the controversy...a straight man doing gay sex scenes?!?? GASP!!! Listen, that is that man's craft. You think he's gay just because he plays that character? Good! That means he is doing HIS JOB. Open your minds. Move past the Deep South accents and the trash storylines of the randoms. Watch what matters. See what they are really saying.
The Resident: Now What? (2021)
AJ and Trevor
It's frustrating to see another storyline with the black vs. Blue. I know it's there, but it is still hard to see. However, my rating is not because of the storyline. It is because I am enjoying the mentor role that AJ has created with Trevor. As an aspiring foster parent, I love seeing these kind of support systems being built. I'm excited to see how they develop the relation.
Generation Gap (2022)
I Wanted do Like It
I only watched episode one. Seems like the questions were one-sided. I mean seriously, one answer was Kelly Ripa and she is making faces at the team so they know it's her. Really? I will give it one more chance. Hopefully there are better questions.
Grown·ish (2018)
Apples to Oranges
I keep reading comments that this show is not like A Different World. That's true, because it's not. You are comparing two shows that aired decades apart as well a generations. My college experience in late 90's was not like my sister's in the early 90's. And we both went to HBCUs, but we have no idea what it's like to be there now. This show tells a story from a different perspective, albeit it repeats the same storyline, which gives it a lower rating. But let's be honest, sex and drugs are everywhere, not to mention all the drama they describe. The show may be "woke", but right now, that seems to be the case with most shows, which I'm not a fan of as well, It's almost like "woke-ness" has to shoved down peoples throat because it's the only way they listen. Did anyone ever say this was supposed to be family show or a comedy? The show is on Freeform, not ABC family. And for those of you who want Junior, you got him. Let's see if you drag him like you dragged Zoey.
Entangled (2019)
What?
I watched it because I was curious of the storyline, which turned out to be stupid. It was pointless, and when it was over, I wanted my time back. It was ridiculously stupid.
Rescued by Ruby (2022)
Feel Good Movie
If you're looking for a feel good movie that pulls you in emotionally. This is it. I found myself invested in Ruby's success and enjoyed the comparison of her to her owner.
Raven's Home (2017)
Season 5 is Funny
I watched seasons 1-4 and they were fine. We'll season 4 was weird when Nia changed her acting style. But season 5 with the new changes are funny. It only has 7 episodes so I guess they feeling out the changes.
Hawaii Five-0: I ho'olulu, ho'ohulei 'ia e ka makani (2020)
Half and half
Loved the banter between Danny and the new woman. It could have added to the show, but she dies. SHE DIES. Disappointing. Learned some things about PTS in canines though.
Turner & Hooch (2021)
Entertaining
I like this show. It's wholesome, but the dog drools soooooo much. That's my only issue. It's hard for me to watch. Other than that, it's cute. The plots are good.
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (2022)
Watched it in One Sitting
I watched this series because I am a Kristin Bell fan. I didn't even know what it was about. I'm glad to know it was satire though because it makes the plot a little better. I mean really? The murdering cannibal man murdered the daughter after being locked in a room "by mistake". Stop it. And the headstone has two separate quotes. And OMG the fight scene with the little girl. She's murdered EVERYBODY.
How I Met Your Father (2022)
Give it a Chance
It's brand new. It has to find it's footing. Yes it's a spin-off/reboot but it also has to stand on it's on. Let them find themselves and they are two different generations. Try to relate.
Insecure (2016)
Good Show...Funny
Hated the ending. I wasn't into the Issa and Lawrence ish. However, I enjoyed watching them all grow. Most of the growing was done in the final episode, but it is what it is.
The Boss Baby: Family Business (2021)
Original Was Better
Loved Precious!!! I think they tried so hard to out do the first movie, that they over did it. We were inside Tim's imagination for half the movie. Not to mention, why did Tina have to rip off her clothes every time? Boss Baby wore his suit without any apologies lol. Plus, did big Tim and little Tim have the same voice? Nobody heard that?
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Started a Little Slow
But worth waiting until the good parts. It was predictable and unpredictable at the same time. It also was a bit long.
Call Me Kat (2021)
I was on the fence at first
The pilot was shaky but as the season continues, I started looking forward to the next episode.
Larry Gaye: Renegade Male Flight Attendant (2015)
Nope
Too many popular names in this movie for it not to be funny. Disappointing. This is the type of movie you see in the beginning of actors careers, not after they become household names.
Legacies: Goodbyes Sure Do Suck (2021)
Annoying
I mean he didn't "die", but he's still gone so...I liked his character. More than most. This show is ok, but unaligned with TVD Universe. Although Klaus and Elijah are dead, I'd like to see them somehow. Maybe in a dream or alternate world.
Fantasy Island (2020)
Could Have Been More Thrilling
I expected a few more thrills. I jump once. The content was good though.
Legacies (2018)
Keep an Open Mind
If you expect it to be just like Vampire Diaries or The Originals you will be disappointed because it's not. It's not written with storylines like between characters, it is written for challenges and mysteries i.e. monsters. It's a good show, just different for its origins.
How to Pick Your Second Husband First (2018)
A Happy Find
Randomly came across this movie. It was refreshing and wholesome.
Fear the Walking Dead (2015)
I tried
I binge watched TWD this year, so when it was over I went through a bit of withdrawal. I decided to give Fear of the Walking Dead a chance. Season 1 was boring and I wondered if Nick would be an addict the entire season. I read some reviews and they say just make it to season 3 and 4. LIES!!!! Then I thought, ok Morgan is coming. Still boring. I knew Dwight was coming and I wanted to try again, but nah. I'm out.
The Walking Dead (2010)
Chapter 8 Sucked
I binge watched TWD seasons 1-8 this year and loved it until Negan showed up. The shows felt long and drawn out. The fam (Rick and Co.) took too many losses and I was tired of hearing about Negan's balls. So to summarize, seasons 1-7...10 stars. Season 8...3 stars.
