Christmas in the Spotlight (2024)
Terrific movie, the male lead is so hot
I really enjoyed this one. It was my first Lifetime Christmas movie and I didn't know Lifetime has a more liberal policy than Hallmark in terms of showing the male actors shirtless. As a direct consequence of that, I loved this movie.
The name lead, Laith Wallschleger, is insanely hot and had at least 2-3 scenes where he took his shirt off and we were able to lovingly gaze on his enormous muscles. One of these scenes was actually in a football team locker room, and that really did certain things for me.
I think there were some female characters in the movie too, but don't ask me anything about them.
Casting Laith was a really inspired choice. I will watch everything he ever appears in from here onto eternity.
Pared con pared (2024)
Pretty good movie, one improvement would have made it great.
This was a pretty fun movie to watch, even though the dialogue was nothing original.
The main guy was pretty handsome and that kept me watching, because I thought, hm maybe he'll take his shirt off at some point. He did for a moment actually, but we could barely see anything - they had framed him above nipple-level even. Then I googled his name also to find any shirtless pictures, but nothing came up. This is very unusual for young, attractive actors like him so it makes me think that maybe the body isn't that great, if everyone's hiding it.
Anyway, like I said, good movie easy enough and entertaining for a lazy Saturday afternoon.
One improvement I could make is in the scene near the end where they break the wall down (literally) and get to see each other for the first time, right before the big face reveal, they should have started with a little glory hole action. Just my thought for a little improvement, you may not agree.
Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. (2023)
Great movie - just needs one improvement
When my husband suggested that we watch this movie, I said, wait, isn't it really depressing though? And he said, no, it's meant to be funny and uplifting. And I said, oh right maybe I'm thinking of a different movie then.
Then we ended up watching it. It really was a fun, sweet, and uplifting movie. It kept my attention all the way through and I liked all the characters, and I'm not even a teenage girl (never have been).
Overall, I'd say that this is an 8 out of 10 movie. It needs just one amendment to make it 10 out of 10.
In the scene near the end where Margaret gets her first period when she's in the bathroom, it should have played this way instead: when Margaret gets up from the toilet and looks back down and sees something that makes her gasp and say, "oh my god", "oh my god", twice (implying that she sees she just got her period), the camera should pan down to the toilet bowl and we see a HUGE poo. Then the movie ends.
Best in Dough (2022)
Daniele knows what's up
I really enjoyed the show and consequently went to Daniele's pizza restaurant Pizzana to try it out, because he talks such a big game. Best pizza I've ever had. Daniele really is the pizza GOAT.
The show is really fun and I love how they change things up every week with different type of contestants. And a lot of the pizzas they make look delicious.
The presenter seems lovely and good natured and pretty funny too. I've already spoken about my love Daniele, but I like all the other judges too. They're usually funny and constructive with their criticisms.
We need a second season asap. And more Daniele.
A Very Country Christmas (2017)
Loved the male lead
This was a fantastic movie. The highlight came at 08:30 when the male lead, Zane, waltzed into a scene shirtless and wet in a pair of jeans holding a tiny hand towel.
He has a perfectly muscular dad bod and not even his terrible acting and face-pulling were able to distract from those lovely pecs and arms. He also uses the hand towel as a prop to flex his body when moving it around awkwardly, and even gives us a flash of his beautiful armpits when he places the towel around his shoulders.
The scene ended at 09:59 but those two minutes were enough to make me watch the rest of the movie (couldn't tell you what happened through it) in a pleasant daze.
Subsequently, I have found out that there are two sequels to this. I'm going to watch both of them and report back on whether Zane gets his kit off again.
Murder, She Wrote: School for Murder (1995)
Good episode, nice setting, cute actors
I liked the school setting of this episode. Not sure why Cabot Cove, which is usually presented as quite parochial and sleepy, has such a ritzy high school that looks like a prep fever dream with dressed up students and secret societies and such, but I really enjoyed the setting nonetheless.
Aunt Jess kills it as always.
The two young actors who play the pupils are handsome. This helped maintain my interest. We also get a brief scene where the hotter one of the two (the one who plays the bad boy) starts taking off his shirt in a completely unnecessary scene and reveals a lovely, appealing hairy chest and even gives us a fleeting peek of his nipples. One extra point for that: 9/10.
Love in the Villa (2022)
You already know how bad this is
OK, so this truly is awful, but you already knew this when you decided to watch a no-budget Netflix romcom.
I also know why you decided to watch it, so let me clear this up for you: there is only one scene where Tom Hopper is shirtless. It starts at 13:40 and it only lasts for 1 minute and 40 seconds.
He looks pretty good, lean, nice chest, great back and fantastic posture, but come on, it's only 100 seconds. If you want us to watch the whole film, give us something more. (I fast forwarded through the rest - he does not take that shirt off again).
I should also point out (in response to the only other review on here) that Tom is actually English, but yeah, his English accent here is very odd. Like he's trying to do a different English accent to what he naturally has? I don't know.
My rating is 1/10. One star for every full minute that Tom appeared shirtless.
Conversations with a Killer: The John Wayne Gacy Tapes (2022)
Nothing happens
I'm halfway through the second episode and nothing has happened yet. Just vague references to people disappearing and long, boring interviews with what seems to be hundreds of fat old cops and prosecutors and lawyers, alluding to things but explicitly saying nothing.
I'm starting to think this guy didn't do anything reprehensible.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Cheesy crap for simple-minded Americans
I admire the ambition of this film, I guess, but it's so off-putting and trite when the end message is literally, "be kind". Only stupid Americans would fall for this populist, cheesy, simplistic crap.
Death on the Nile (2022)
Not just inaccurate, but also dull
It felt really flat and boring. God, I hope they don't make a third one. Or at least they can pick a Poirot case that hasn't been made into a film before, but a hundred times better.
Love Hard (2021)
Baby, it's cold outside
I turned it off when the main character demanded that the Uber driver switch the station, because she was SO offended by the song Baby, It's Cold Outside. Who writes these things? Buzzfeed listicle commenters?
Bake Squad (2021)
Get Maya-Camille out!
Why is mayacamille there? She doesn't have the skill, creativeness, and refinement the others do.
That house she made in the first episode was the most pathetic thing I've ever seen, could have been on an amateur baking show or Nailed It.
Even in the episode when they team up, she's so clearly not on the same level and struggling to make a cake while Christophe is literally doing everything.
Unsolved Mysteries: Tsunami Spirits (2020)
No thrills here
This was not remotely mysterious, scary, or chilling. It was just a bunch of people discussing the possibility of "spirits" existing or talking about lost relatives. Terrible episode.
My Dad Wrote a Porno (2019)
Love the podcast but this feels forced and fake
My fiance and I are HUGE MDWAP fans and we couldn't make it 10 minutes into the special. It felt incredibly fabricated and kinda pointless when the whole point of the podcast is first reactions. They're very comfortable on stage, which was great to see, but it only adds to the feeling that everything was scripted/rehearsed in a way that's counter to the parent content.
I didn't want to see them pretending they hadn't heard the chapter before. I find it weird they're dining out on that live show for so long. I guess comedians do a similar thing but the spontaneity between the 3 hosts is so integral to the success of the podcast.
