I've been reading a lot of other reviews and I'm not sure if they had actually watched 'Conan the Barbarian' or 'Deathstalker IV'. Don't get me wrong, I thought that Arnold Schwarzenegger was a good barbarian hero. But I was a huge fan of the Howard novels and Arnold was just not the way that I pictured Conan. When I heard that they were going to make a Conan reboot, I was sceptical. But then I found out that Jason Momoa was slated to be the next Conan. I thought that it was a perfect choice.
After watching 'Game of Thrones', Jason Momoa playing Khal. Drogo, quite literally, was Conan the Barbarian. He just spoke a different language.
As far as some people complaining about there not being any sidekicks. Once again, I say that they aren't remembering the novels correctly or the comic books. Conan was the last of his Cimmerian tribe. He was, by definition, a loner. This is exactly the way that Momoa's Conan was written. Sure he had Artus the pirate. But he was just a friend for now. Like Subotai in the original Conan the Barbarian, or Malik from Conan the Destroyer.
I will say that the plot did seem to be a bit choppy. My guess is that that was due to studio editing and not the script. Is this a great movie? No. It's a popcorn movie. One of the best of Barbarian genre. It's isn't meant to have any deep philosophical meaning. It's just supposed to be fun. So just just grab your favorite beverage and snack and just enjoy yourself for a couple of hours.

I have seen reviews of this film from the far left and the far right. I'm not by any stretch of the imagination a blood thirsty militia man. But I am a prepper and a patriot. I have been saying that this country is headed for civil unrest for a long time. This film depicts a group of people that are fed up with the government pushing us toward globalism. Is this a great film? No. Did they do a great job with this film considering the budget they had? Yes. The acting was great, even if the script wasn't. The dialogue needed work. The special effects were okay. I just think that this is a film worthy of watching.
