This is actually quite a beautiful film. Incredibly shot and soundtracked with a young fresh faced cast and tone to match. The dusty locations and overall palette used throughout First Light really pulls you into the world surrounding this snapshot of two teenagers running through worlds unknown. With acting chops by the leads anchoring the story as they move from scene to scene at a quick pace. Spacey soundtrack is quite reminiscent of Trent Reznor/ Atticus Ross' work with similarly toned films. And a massive round of applause to the DOP for the optimised use of light/ texture in every shot. Great production. Great film.

The whole mood of this show is Awkward. Heartwarming in places, quite funny sporadically... but man is it awkward. Classic fish out of water rhetoric of the witty English gentleman in the States. Only his wit succumbs to crushing low self esteem in some of the worst public scenarios possible. Depressingly funny? Perhaps.
