Horizon House production's Midnight Oil is a fun
ride. It's an all-in-one-night sort of story that asks
the audience to join in on the ride as two strangers
become friends. Guy and Lenny take us along with
them as they encounter different groups of
eclectic characters and the bizarre scenarios that
they are experiencing.
Perhaps it's not what one would expect when being sold on it being a stoner comedy as it's not all laughs and hi jinx humor. It rests mostly in the land of the real and offers some deeper examination of art, artists and their struggles to create and express themselves. Not that there aren't funny things happening, but you may not leave with sore cheeks and stitches in your sides from smiling and laughing too much. That being said, this film will definitely give you some things to think about. It's a film-makers film. Art for artists.
Patience is probably required from the audience to fully appreciate. A coffee and some herbal cigarettes wouldn't hurt either.
