Impossible to read most of those online messages. The various messages posted online by the characters over the course of the film are important to the plot. So it's pretty frustrating to be wondering what those on-screen messages say. They're small, they're at an angle. Are we supposed to actually be able to read what they say? I presume so but honestly i don't know. Anyway this really spoilt the film for me. Apart from that it was otherwise a good enjoyable film. A bit more time and effort needed in post production next time. There's plenty of content on Netflix etc with good examples of how to show messages being sent between characters that are properly displayed on-screen so the viewer can follow too. It's always great if the whole story can be followed, not just bits of it.
There are 4 episodes, so on a technicality this is a series. But I think most viewers would reasonably expect any series to last more than a total of 80 minutes. There's little suspense, and almost no action. This amounts to 80 minutes of cut scenes. And other reviewers' references to the blatant plagiarism lifted from Black Hawk Down are genuinely justified. The CGI is spot on, however this "series" is let down by everything else. Considering that teasers for this were coming out last year, it's no surprise that RE fans are frustrated and disappointed.
It's definitely best not to over-analyse this movie. If the protagonists had behaved even slightly rationally, the movie couldn't happen. But in terms of entertainment alone, it's lots of mindless silliness and fun, however ludicrous the story.
