The Witcher (2019)
Yeah. Disapointment. With big, huge MEh.
1st episode. Half of the time - poor script, directing, acting.
With unnecessary nonsense such as queen's exercises with sword at battlefield: why, why would a ruler get itself into a mess instead of managing it's troops? Motivation, you say. Ok, does queen has no generals? Someone who spend one half of their life in battles and other half honing sword fighting skills? Big musculed figures who can efficiently wield that really heavy pointy thing?! Suppose, Calanthe mastered sword fight at acceptable level for any reason, but she didn't have this bodytype. And, as i understand, good ruler would have way too many problems to deal with to lose time trying to double bodystrength. This is not one-to-one, not a duel, this is sword fight at battlefield, you need muscles, Carl!
Next. I can accept different skin color in the same race, even it's confusing. But spears! In hands of dryads! Practicly allways. WHY?
Next. What have they made with Geralt? He casts admonitory glances, he sighes, he fishes geenies at lake with toy net. Why, oh, why?!
For right now, episode 5, i like the "other half" of acting (not script): Renfri, Calanthe, Eist, poor Eist, they butchered his character, Mousesack.
Yes, Geralt is strong, a joy-for-eye, sexy, with practicly right voice. He moves reeeally awesome during the bout. Yet too sentimental, too exposed. Too ... common?
6, 7 episodes. Ah, nope, Cavill just pushes too hard.
And 7th episode is total wtf and where's your logic?
Yennefer, funny, she's better than i expected after trailer. Younger than she should be, so too much youthful arrogance instead of adult mage's overconfidence. Know what? I like this Yenn. Her plotline is insult, still actress did good job.
Triss had not much screen time, yet, she speaks and acts lively, she's willful and canny.
Ciri is ... definitely not 12. She's almost not existing, would've made good witcher. That's not right.
And Jaskier. Finally, this is 10 out of 10. "Toss a coin to your witcher")) Nnnnice!
Probably, if i didn't read the books, would've watch the series anyway.
When nothing else is on screen.
If only remembered idea from one old sci-fi story: time isn't existing. Everything happening at the same moment. Our perception creates timeline, blah, blah, etc.
8th episode left me disapointed. You know that feeling: something wonderful awaits right behind the coner? Mghm, it wasn't there. Seeme, even didn't plan to be there.
The Rookie: The Roundup (2018)
Holy cow!
And we got one more reason to watch this show -mr. landlord, Currie Graham!
How is it possible that guy in his fifties has such alluring, unearthly voice? How is it possible in any age?
Cyborg X (2016)
Trash.
Only two good things there is in this outburst: secondary sex characteristics of female lead and athletic shirtless figure of male lead. But even this frivolous, yet evanescent values gets annulled by everyone's, including hers, constant wailings and his unbelievably stupid behavior.
Trashy trash, don't waste your time.
John Carter (2012)
Oh, come ooon!
This is awwwwesome!
I read this book and next one, movie based on, somewhat twenty years ago, found it at my grandfather's. It was written in unfamiliar to me style, kinda strange phrase construction. And i still remember it's heroes, their decisions, even some passages.
This movie isn't complete retell. They added enough bits of changes: jokes, visualisations, pace.
Jokes sometimes silly, protagonist regularly looks like an idiot, princess isn't what i was expecting at all.
But everyone is so alive and everybody lives as intense as they can in this beautyful bright gorgeously spacious world.
And it's awesome!
Cyborg Soldier (2008)
"Seems to me, gentlemen, this was a comedy."
Oddly, i enjoyed it.
Yes, Tissen isn't Hamilton in any way. Yet, this ex-mma fighter (and ex-math teacher. Well, wow!) somehow proned me to compare his personage with great&awfull T. (Yeah, yeah, cyborg vs terminator. 2 big differences. Not the point.)
Yes, there is bit too many citations. Yet, it was fun trying to guess which move from which movie.
Even Greenwood's perfomance was acceptable.
So, yes, this isn't classic of all times. Yet, this is "company of good friends", "put aside your problems for a time" movie.
The New Legends of Monkey (2018)
Fun, colorful, need more!
Fairy tale with very much alive personages. Actors are gorgeous in every sense. That first demon somehow made me remember "vampires" from late SG-1. Stylish!) Whole situation with gods and demons living among mortals is really intriguing, concerning not just this legend. As we all know, foreigners in every part of the world at one epoch or another were deemed as demons or witches, etc, especially when they behaved in unusual way. So it was pretty much expected to see whites in roles of demons. Btw Sandy, Master and bunch of other gods are played by white actors. So, just let it go. About accents and nationalities. Yeaah, why not, lets put only englishmen into Shakespearean plays, only spanish actors into Lorka's staff. It's gonna be bit tricky with vulcans, but no problem with cast for "Bamby", isn't it? Anyway, watched all 10 episodes at once (oh, should've done it 1 per day at least) and strongly hope for 6 more seasons by the number of left scrolls.
Anon (2018)
Huge waste of time.
Nice scene with train. Everything looks logical. Logical to the gnashing of teeth! "It's not i have something to hide. It's i don't have something i want you to see." And, wow, he is amazed by the "divine revelation". This movie is frustrating in it's pointlessness: nothing for thoughts, nothing for fun. 3 is for actors acting ok, strait logic and chasing.
P.S.: imho, good science-fiction thing should have some strong ideas plus conquering plot besides technical novelties. THIS is an overdue ethics lesson in sci-fi colors made by graphomaniac.
Conviction (2016)
Nice show
It's a shame, didn't find this earlier. Of course, it's canceled. Dunno why, except of that their way of switching between scenes was really annoying.
Lucifer (2016)
Very good show!
Mostly. At rare minimums simply good.
Just watched the s.3.23. Are you kidding?! She is one of the awesomest characters! Kinda didn't like P.H. before this show. And few series back it strikes me, that woman is genuine actress, of wide spectrum, with creeps, tears&laugh on the receiving side. She is wonderfull.
Timeless (2016)
Like it!
Nicely proportioned. Intrigue, action, bit of drama, bit of humour, well, romance. Unexpected turns? Yeah, 60%. Charismatic personages. Every single one of them! Fine actors.
Script's naiv? So what? They have Matt Lanter, who's as good as Fillion, even better since younger.))
P.S.: appreciate the shindig.) Ok, almost not gnashing about knitting. Nicely done coup d'État! It's a shame, Flinn didn't learn to seize the moment - should've said what he wanted. Hope, he'll keep his screentime anyhow.
After reading some reviews got myself a question: how much would've cost show with strict yet demonstrable science, historical accuracy, flawless logic of exciting plot, original to the point jokes and real emotions?
We have here way more than usual.
Btw) i've watched all of "El ministerio" with eng subs and loved it.
Still wish "Timeless" to be renewed!
