Gang de qin (2010)
I lived with this ironic humor
This is deep reminder for all people who lived in the northeast China(for me). In Chinese piano means a instrument made of steel literally which ironically the title of this movie in Chinese means piano made of steel. Back in the 90s was a hard time for northeast China, while other parts of China benefited from the growing economy because of the sacrifice the Northeast China had made. My hometown used to be a industrial region just like Detroit. But with the mode of the old Soviet Russia. The older generations was told to live with faith, to believe in the bright future. Meanwhile China abandoned the legacy of the Soviet Russia, these hardworking labor lost their jobs and no one cares about them. It was miserable to feel that you were a middle-class citizen and in one night you lost everything, what you had believed in were all lies. I can't be more grateful that my dad was just like this movie. He used to be respectful engineer who speaks Russian and a little bit English. He struggled for living once but still gave me and my brother everything he could do for us. Like in the movie Guilin decided to make a piano himself with the tools and materials he had in the factory. My dad couldn't afford a accordion but somehow he managed to fix a broken accordion someone left on the street. He sang for us and he spent half of him salary to rent film tapes for us. I still remember those rainy afternoons watching Star Wars with him.For me he is the greatest hero. So I had to give a 10/10 for this movie because of its meaning for me
