Moonfall (2022)
dont bother. scenarists didn't.
If you're gonna make yet another movie pushing conspiracy theories, at least make it fun and somehow half credible. Get a scenarist. Try a bit. This is a pathetic non story.
Pennyworth (2019)
season 1 is a 10, season 2 a 2. there, have an average 6.
Season 1 is the susprising and grounded ascent of a courageous bloke in the rise of fascism in England. It's fast paced, cheeky and we'll written.
Season 2 is a decent into a poorly pieced together improbable, the abject, unrealistic, manichean sci-fi plot, where nothing falls together logically, but instead look like they happen "because the scenario says so" in pure American series fashion. Suspend your disbelief with both arms and possibly a stick. Painfully went through it hoping it would fall together but it only keeps going worth until it's just a carricature.
As nothing we expected gets resolved to merge into a plausible "Gotham" prequel just yet, I dread they'll inflict a season 3 to assemble it all with bandaids. I'm all out of stars anyway.
Le flic de Belleville (2018)
oh boy
Poor acting, no sense of comic rythm, the whole movie is a collection of every possible cliché. intended as a reference to Eddy Murphy's classic Beverly Hills Cop series, it's closer to the lousiest french comedies. Run.
Asterix in Amerika (1994)
A cheap shot
The story isn't necessarily that bad, but it's disserved by a very poor quality production and realisation. The animation is erratic, with entire sequences copy-pasted from greater Astérix movies or even recent disney's of the time, adding a constant "deja vu" which distracts from the story.
Still pleasant for kids but not much for the amateurs of Astérix or good animation.
The songs are just insufferable and out of place.
The Corporate Coup D'État (2018)
Deep dive
A well documented and argumented document on the systems in place to suppress the people's voice in favour of the greed of the wealthiest.
Undoubtedly left leaning, because there is no other way to depict the systemic destruction of the working class and their "habitat", it should be an eye opener for middle class libertarians.
It also offers an human level and non judgemental peak into the spirit of those from the zeroed former industrial areas who put their hopes in Trump, and how corporate democrats have betrayed their base leading to 2016 debacle.
It also offers plenty of sources to continue the journey. Thanks Mr Peabody for this masterpiece of education.
