Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017)
Really gorgeous in UHD.
What a gorgeous film. Well made, it moves fast, and might leave some behind, but I had no problem following the plot, which was different from most science fiction plots. Watch this in UHD. It was one of the most beautiful and detailed films I have ever watched.
Blade Runner (1982)
Great Movie of a Future that Never Came.
I saw this film when it first came out, and I have to say, it wasn't the best film to watch while intoxicated. Years later, watching it on disc, the movie really hit me with how wonderful it was. Rutger Hauer was fantastic. If you haven't watched this film you can't call yourself a true fan of science fiction film.
Khartoum (1966)
A really good movie.
I first saw this movie first run at my local theater. I saw it again recently on Amazon Prime, and it brought back the great memories. Very good historical film with good acting. Worth a watch.
Saving Private Ryan (1998)
One of the Best War Movies ever made.
And one of Tom Hanks' best. American Rangers versus SS, you can't get any more hardcore than that in that era. Great action scenes that were authentic as hell. If you haven't seen this film, go get it. Now.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Didn't like it the first time.
I didn't like this movie the first time, coming out of the theater pissed as hell. It took a second Imax viewing to really appreciate this film. They had a lot of characters in this film, and it was amazing that they balanced them so well.
Octaman (1971)
A movie so bad it is good.
A perfect representation on how to not make a movie. Bad sets, bad acting, bad use of stock footage, horrible effects. In fact, it's so horrible it's hilareous.
The Terminator (1984)
A Masterpiece by James Cameron.
I saw this movie at the local theater when I was home on a break from college, knowing nothing about it. And boy, was I surprised. Well directed, beautiful scenes, especially those set in the future. Cool time travel storyline, and I normally despise time travel. Turned Linda Hamilton into a star. Arnie was funny at time as he tried to pronounce English, when as a robot his enunciation should have been perfect. Great movie that has stood the test of time.
Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)
Another Cameron Masterpiece.
James Cameron is a special director, and this movie was one of his best. The sequel to the original Terminator, it had some twists and surprises, and action enough for anyone. Loved it.
Avatar (2009)
One of the Most Amazing Movies I Have Ever Seen.
One of my favorite movies, only surpassed by Alita Battle Angel, by the same producer. Best 3D I have ever seen. Gorgeous settings. Great Action. The story wasn't all that original, except it was, because it was placed in a different setting. Entertaining as all hell.
Prometheus (2012)
Ruined the Alien Universe for Me.
I have always loved the concept of Aliens. This unknown creature that had been out there for time unknown. Not anymore. Even though the film was decent and entertaining, the entire premise was bad.
Man of Steel (2013)
Good movie, but not my favorite.
This is a good Superman movie, but not the best. A lot of people didn't like the collateral damage, but you fight your opponent where they are. If they don't follow you out into the empty desert, you are forced to fight in the city. I liked the villain, and the fight scenes were epic.
Ghost in the Shell (2017)
I konw a lot of people didn't like this movie.
But I did. Gorgeous scenes, cool storyline. Especially on the UHD disc. I watched the Anime, and it seemed to follow the storyline very closely. If the only reason you judge a film is by the ethnicity of the characters, I think your missing the really cool elements of the fil,
Justice League (2017)
I liked this movie.
This, to me, is a sign that DC is getting it together. Loved the characters and the interactions. I think they could have had a better villain, but the fight scenes were good enough.
Aquaman (2018)
Really Fun Movie.
I was pleasantly surprise by this movie. Great action, great choreography, wonderful sets, terrific battles. Like it so much it was my first UHD Blu-ray purchase. Worth a watch.
Iron Man Three (2013)
My Least Favorite Iron Man Movie.
I really didn't like this movie, though I did like parts of it. They turned one of Stark's iconic villains into an actor. An actor? A fun watch, but not much substance.
Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Should Have Been Called Avengers, Infinity War.
One of the best Marvel movies. Had most of the Avengers in it, with the exception of Thor and Hulk, the most powerful. Still, the characters they did have were favorites, and they introduced a couple of more. Great film, and the Iron Man/Captain America interactions were great.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Didn't like it the first time.
I didn't like this movie the first time, coming out of the theater pissed as hell. It took a second Imax viewing to really appreciate this film. They had a lot of characters in this film, and it was amazing that they balanced them so well.
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
Not the Best Avengers Film.
But still, an Avengers film. Love seeing all my favorite characters in a major battle, and the Hulk was awesome. Still, the storyline wasn't the best, could have been better.
Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
One of my Favorite Marvel Movies.
Loved this movie. The interactions between Thor and the Hulk were great. Some shocking moments, and the end set up the future. Really fun movie.
Thor: The Dark World (2013)
Thor Rocks.
I know this film has been ragged on by many people, but I really enjoyed it. Was great seeing Asgard, and how Mjolnir followed Thor around was wonderful. Hey, Thos has always been one of my favorite characters, and Hemsworth plays him so well.
Captain Marvel (2019)
A Flat Movie with a Totally Uninteresting Character.
Brie Larson might have won an oscar in the past, but if she gets another for this one I'm calling foul. Flat wooden character who was overpowered. I have seen every Marvel film, and this was the worst by far.
The Avengers (2012)
The first Avengers Movie is still the Best.
Loved this movie. I've been a Marvel fan since the 1960s, and it was a treat seeing all of my boyhood heroes on the big screen. If you haven't seen this one, what are you waiting for.
Alita: Battle Angel (2019)
Wonderful Movie, and I've seen a lot of them.
I am a 62 year old Amazon Bestselling science fiction writer, and have seen literally thousands of movies in my life, as well as all the great science fiction series. And I rate this film among the best of all time in the scifi genre. Wonderful action sequences, fantastic world building, and a terrific performance for Alita. She is the most human character in the movie. I could believe this was an amnesiac teenager who is seeing the world for the first time, the wonder in her expressions, the soulful looks, the many heartbreaks. Highly recommended. Don't let the critics keep you away from this one, which must be seen on the big screen to be fully appreciated.
