Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Best of 2022
Diligently written, hilariously funny, aesthetically stunning, utterly moving, and deeply puzzling. That is what true cinema offers viewers. This has so far been the best movie of 2022. It offers you an explanation of what parallel universes and endless possibilities mean. If you've ever dreamt of leading an entirely different life from yours due to infinite possibilities, you should watch it now.
Greenland (2020)
Great disaster movie
Forget about the viruses because it could be much worse. An asteroid hits the earth, and as expected looting and chaos start. You need to know how to survive at these moments because humans turn into completely different creatures. They become cold and selfish. The movie gives a good example of 'every man for himself' during these chaotic times. Finding a shelter becomes the top priority for everyone. Deserves a better rating though.
The Walking Dead: Here's Negan (2021)
The best of the season
It is clear that the last two episodes were not even close to be watchable, but the season finale is everything we are looking for. The writers of TWD are finally back being great. Negan's transformation is amazing. His transformation from a mediocre and angry gym teacher to a brutal leader is fascinating. Lucille is played by Hilarie Burton, who is Morgan's real-life wife. It becomes more emotional to know this fact. We need a spinoff of Negan. Daryl and Carol will have their own show. Let Negan have one, too.
#Saraitda (2020)
Decent zombie movie
It does deserve more than a 6.3 rating. A decent plot and good acting. #stayathome is depicted nicely. Not everyone has to go outside and fight zombies instead of staying indoor until the virus is eradicated. Spending weeks inside is a logical attempt. The one thing I didn't like is that I want zombies to be slow-paced creatures like in TWD rather than those who can run fast and climb. It is a better movie than it's rating.
Army of the Dead (2021)
Zombies
I watch everything about zombies. I have been waiting for this movie by Snyder for a while, and it was really worth the waiting. Such an entertaining movie, great makeup, and acting. Those who love zombies should watch it right now.
Derren Brown: Pushed to the Edge (2016)
Shocking experiment
I am always skeptical of the reality of these experiments, but I must say that there seems to be no fiction in this experiment. People forget that these people were selected after a series of eliminations and they are inclined to obey rules. The ending is shocking because it makes you question your own morality. Are you ethical enough under severe conditions? How can we ignore other people's commands and continue in our own path? Now I am a fan of Derren Brown's experiments. Well-done.
Love and Monsters (2020)
A great feel-good movie.
I enjoy searching the Internet to find a good movie to watch. The other day I saw it on Netflix and watched it without reading the IMDb comments, which I never do. This is a great movie like Zombieland with great monsters. It will make you feel good and spend great time. The lead actor is likeable and gullible, which is a common feature of these movies. Watch it.
El perro que no calla (2021)
Experimental and absurd
Shot in black and white showing the pieces of Sebastian's life, which is full of inconsistencies and difficulties, the movie deals with the change in human relations especially during a catastrophic event like a meteor or pandemic. Our life-changing decisions are actually based on nonsense like choosing the dog over your job. How did we change our life for good? What was our decision based on in the first place? Were we right? Lots of questions to be answered.
The Father (2020)
Brilliant...
Give Anthony Hopkins the Oscar on April 26. He gives you the best performance of the decade. An old man with dementia loses his ties to reality. His mind deteriorates, and reality stops making any sense. This movie will haunt you, especially if you have a relative with dementia. Such a heartbreaking movie. ABSOLUTELY the best movie of the year and the best performance of the year by Hopkins.
ZeroZeroZero (2019)
Intense, intelligent, and irresistible
Drug trafficking involving three countries the US, Mexico, and Italy, turns into an intense cat and mouse game. A mafia leader in Italy awaits for his shipment of five tones of narcotics while a man with Huntington disease tries to deliver it. In the meantime, a man in the army in Mexico turns into a vicious gang leader. The acting, music, and the script are flawless. You wish it to never end, but with only eight episodes, this intelligent series ends. Bring the second season!
The Man from Earth (2007)
Make sure you watch this movie!
I have seen this movie umpteen times. It is my all time favorite along with Back to the Future. Never seen a more thought-provoking script in my life so far. You cannot disprove John's claims. It is like a history book mixed with solid claims in the centre of religion. The film takes place in only one setting, but the dialogues wrap you tightly and make you think that John Oldman's claims are really plausible.
Watch it NOW.
Yes Day (2021)
Not for adults
Surely not one of those movies which are both for adults and children. This one is just for kids. If you are an adult, go watch Jim Carrey's Yes Man.
Behind Her Eyes (2021)
Great View
After countless movies and series, now I understand that a show is great only if I can binge-watch it. The plot twists are so unpredictable. I recommend many shows, but this one is perfect. I cannot believe it has a rating of 7.2. Such an underrated show. Leave everything and watch it NOW.
Remember (2015)
Powerful
Christopher Plummer has just recently passed away and left many powerful movies. I personally enjoyed the movie as an old man with dementia still goes after his revenge. In this sense, revenge is such a strong emotion that even can defeat forgetting.
I can identify myself with Zev as the past continuously slips away. Find it hard to remember even a few years ago. Friendships are forgotten, and what is left behind is certain emotions with bad taste. Zev actually exemplifies the bliss of forgetting. A powerful script with a plot twist at the end.
Your Honor (2020)
Kid ruined it.
Could have been flawless if Adam had some sense of mind. Cranston is a great actor, but the kid had no potential, no emotion to show on screen. The writers could have given more details about the kid. The most annoying character for a while now. Other than that great acting, slow pacing but edgy, and well executed script. Glad that Cranston directed the last episode.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
Best love story
Embarrassed to admit that I am a huge fan of romantic movies. I am especially into two contrasting people's struggle to make their relationship work. Clementine is an open book while Joel is a reserved man, falling into every woman who shows some kind of affection to him. Two soul mates trying to erase each other, but they bury their love deep into their subconsciousness.
Clementine: Joely?
Clementine: What if you stayed this time?
Joel: I walked out the door. There's no memory left.
Clementine: Come back and make up a good-bye at least. Let's pretend we had one.
Joel: *Coming back at her*
Clementine: Bye Joel.
Joel: I love you.
Clementine: *Whispering* Meet me in Montauk.
Memento (2000)
Jealousy
There are a few movies that I watch countlessly like addicted. Eternal Sunshine, 21 Grams, Back to the Future, 500 Days of Summer, and this movie. I remember the first time I watched the movie, I was so jealous of Leonard, who keeps forgetting the past and always lives the present. I enjoyed fifteen minutes periods as it made the audience feel empathy for Leonard. Like him, we had short term memory loss, trying to figure out the plot. One of the best movies there is.
Contratiempo (2016)
Hollywood should learn lesson.
A perfect thriller with a suspenseful script. Every detail is important, and getting distracted prevents you from guessing the end. The acting is flawless. You can sense the Sherlock Holmes effect in this movie because every character is brilliant in their own ways, but one person is like a genius solving a seemingly perfect crime.
Headspace: Guide to Meditation (2021)
Great Help
I have been listening to the tutorial for the last three days before sleeping, and it has been such a calming experience for me. It taught me that in silence we are all united. Coping with stress is a difficult task, and our minds keep spinning. We need a silent moment. Put your headphones on and listen to it before sleeping for twenty minutes top. Trust me, it helps.
Lupin (2021)
A fun ride
I watched the first part (5 episodes) at once. As I try to watch all Omar Sy movies, Lupin was a great chance for me. It is a brilliant and fun show investigating Assane's past and his ambition to be like Lupin. If you love TV series full of action and powerful characters (like La casa de papel), you will enjoy this show.
Imawa no Kuni no Arisu (2020)
Loved it.
I had some reservations about the series as I have never seen a Japanese TV series before. The idea is so original and well-written. It's exciting, intense, and interesting. A group of misfits are transported to a parallel universe where you have to play to survive. The whole world is a play stage. Time to binge now.
Sharp Objects (2018)
Dark and depressing
Every dialogue and scene masterfully crafted. The atmosphere is gloomy and depressing. The show deals with our repressed traumas haunting us until the end of our lives. The twist at the end will blow you away. The acting is flawless. Camille is such a terrific and beautiful character. Watch it patiently, you will not regret it.
The Queen's Gambit (2020)
The Best of 2020 yet.
I haven't watched anything better in 2020 yet including The Boys, Miss Maisel, After Life, the Outsider, Sharp Objects... This is definitely something else. The story of an orphan chess prodigy may distrub or bore you, but the quality of the writing and Anya Taylor-Joy's excellent acting performance combined are uncommon.
