Stadt als Beute (2005)
A much wasted opportunity...Avoid!
The big big trouble with this movie that it pretends to show Berlin as it "really" is, but any recent Berlin-Resident knows after 20 Minutes that none of the three directors lived in Germany's Capital for more than two weeks. This comes with a lot of provincial prejudices , claims to be innovative but in the end is just plain annoying and reactionary....which is a big shame because Renee Pollesch who made a fantastic piece of theatre under the same name is such a huge talent and wasting this opportunity to work with him in such an ignorant way should be punished! The only standout-performance here comes from Inga Busch, possibly not knowing how terrible the final cut is going to be! Avoid and go see Pollesch live instead!
Deed Poll (2004)
Getting Moist One Way Or The Other...
Andre Schneider rather stands out in an ensemble
cast who takes themselves and the matter
they're talking about way too serious.
What could've been a rather niece piece of trash or even a cute little "Basic Instinct"- homage comes down extremely heavy and after a splendid interrogation scene it quickly runs a little bit out of focus and wants to be so much more... Even the sex-scenes are not that bad, but the actors are in desperate need to lighten up and when Ivy Poll mumbles "I'm just getting moist again"
one wonders if she had ever been in the first place...
The Colbys (1985)
best of the 80's primetime soap...shamelessly underrated!
...this is by far the best of the primetime soap operas of the 80's and terribly underrated to this day...splendid acting...great locations, even the scripts seemed relatively rational in comparison to the other struggling nighttime dramas at this point...(and) miss stephanie beacham steals the whole show in every scene she's in...even the cliffhanging ufo remains one of the most preposterous but, truth be told, breathtaking and courageous season/series endings in soap opera history...this comes highly recommend and there's no possible explanation why this show tanked...besides the fact that it ran opposite "Knots Landing" on CBS during it's second and therefore final season..this series definitely played in a very league of it's own...!
