As others have mentioned this is no regular horror, horror entusiasts will be disappointed in one way or another -However, if you go into it expecting a dark psychological thriller/drama , you might enjoy it better! It's atmospheric and sometimes slow, and a mystery including whats seems like a curse unfolds. This is all you need to know to watch it in my opinion!
If you are halfway into it and coming here to see what all this is about, I can share that I think a rewatch help a lot. I spent the first time watching it understanding what it was, genre wise, and the second I could enjoy it for the nice cinematography, drama like suspens and feelings (a lot of dark stuff, just not in horror-movie wrapping) also the ending is enjoyable, sad, weird, and .. I dont know, watch it if you're up for some Japanese weird curse drama.

I loved this little movie tribute to the resident evil franchise and especially the second game. It's a little campy, a little zombie film, a little action film, no make that a lot of action film and a lot of horror film. I loved the racoon city locations, it was all well made, it was dark, maybe not a super scary movie, but creepy enough. I found the makeup and creatures to be very well made, not overdone. I'm glad it's not monster fight after monter fight. It's cool if you know the RE universe some, but you dont need to know a lot, maybe it's even an advantage that you dont. I see a lot of people didn't like it, I'm not sure what they are looking for in a RE movie if they didn't find it here, even the acting was really not bad, maybe the two leads were a little bit unexperienced but it's not too bad. If something was bad it was that it was not as scary as it could have been, I think they just had too many scenes and locations included in the story focus on that, so if you are watching this, watch it for the dark action/zombie movie that it is.
Two small children seem to wake up one night trapped in an extremely sinister and
liminal version of their home. We never quite see them, and the house is as much the protagonist as the children, only their
feet and occasional voices are heard. They seem to be there for a long time , and the movie moves in a crawl, the camera resting on every dark corner and creaking door, sometimes following the kids torchlight on the floor, slowly passing discarded toys and dark doorways. Things progress, but slowly and the progress doesn't seem important, this is not a film with a goal it seems, its just the dark liminal space between the living and the dead where these children seem to be stuck alone, or are they?
