The director sets out to make an LA movie inspired by a Dostoevsky masterpiece and encounters one disaster after another. These include the mutiny of nearly the entire cast and the initial crew and infiltration of the production by a mysterious sect. The film, "Notes from the New World", is rescued by an eleventh hour epiphany and goes on to win multiple international awards.
