Plug Ball
Mega Man 9 Weapons
Acquired From: | Plug Man |
Similar To: | Search Snake (Snake Man | MM3), Spark Shock (Spark Man | MM3), Thunder Bolt (Cloud Man | MM7) |
The Plug Ball is a powerful weapon with some interesting uses, but it's also extremely clumsy, which will turn off some gamers to using it all together. When acquired from Plug Man, the Plug Ball will enter Mega Man's inventory for use, but it's how you use it that's of the utmost importance. In our "similar to" description above, we compare it to two weapons found in Mega Man 3, the Search Snake and the Spark Shock. The Search Snake is similar to the Plug Ball in that the Plug Ball, when shot, doesn't go straight forward but rather goes along the floor, walls and ceiling. And it's similar to the Spark Shock for more obvious reasons, especially considering the fact that Spark Man and Plug Man are quite closely related, indeed. I mean, just look at 'em!
The Plug Ball is the primary weakness of Tornado Man and the very final version of Dr. Wily you encounter in the game, meaning it's likely the last weapon you're going to use on your quest. Regrettably, the nature of this weapon makes it difficult to hit your target unless you're standing right next to them (kind of like using the Gemini Laser on Needle Man in Mega Man 3). To use it on both enemies, you'll want to jump at them and launch your attack while as close to them as you can be, or you may miss otherwise. The beauty of fighting Tornado Man with the Plug Ball, however, is that when he's airborne chucking his Tornado Blow at you, if positioned properly the Plug Ball will crawl up the walls and ceilings and collide with him. Nice!
