Sidhu Barar
Sidhu Barar (सिधू बराड़) or Siddhu Barar (सिद्धू बराड़)[1] is a very ancient gotra found in Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Pakistan.
Origin
The ancestor of this gotra was Siddhu Barar. The gotra was named after him and came to be known as Siddhu.
H.A. Rose[2] writes that Bhati , a tribe of Hindus, chiefly interesting as being the ancestors of the Bhattis and the Sidhu Barar Jats, as the following table shows : —
- Barsi → Bhattis.
- Rajpal → Wattus.
History
Ram Swarup Joon[3] writes that Siddhu is a very ancient gotra. The ancestor of this gotra was Siddhu Barar. The gotra was named after him and came to be known as Siddhu.
Among his descendants Phul was a fortunate one, as his five sons founded five kingdoms. All of them together are called Phulkiyan states including Nabha, Patiala, Jind, Malot and Kapurthala. They call themselves Rajputs, but they do not know that the Bhatti Rajputs are just a branch of the Madrak Jat gotra.
