Welcome to EC2U!

Willkommen! Tervetuloa! Bine ați venit! Bienvenue ! Benvenuti! Bienvenidos! Bem-vindo! Välkommen! Welcome!

The European Campus of City-Universities (EC2U) is a vibrant alliance connecting nine universities across Europe, creating a space where cultures merge, languages interact, and innovation transcends borders.

The partner universities are (South → North):

  • University of Coimbra – Portugal

  • University of Salamanca – Spain

  • University of Pavia – Italy

  • University of Poitiers – France

  • Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași – Romania

  • Johannes Kepler University Linz – Austria

  • Friedrich Schiller University Jena – Germany

  • University of Turku – Finland

  • Umeå University – Sweden

Together, we represent:

  • 250,000 students

  • 30,000 administrative staff, teachers & researchers

  • 63 associate partners

  • 3,960,000 citizens in direct reach through our cities and regions

These are more than numbers, they reflect a network of opportunities, collaborations, and shared experiences.

Our goal is to create an innovative, inclusive, and sustainable space where students, staff, and citizens can move freely between our partner universities and the diverse cities they call home. We share common values: promoting diversity, democracy, sustainability, and advancing knowledge for the benefit of society.

At EC2U, we are not only breaking barriers, we are building bridges between disciplines, cultures, and communities, working together to address global challenges and shape a better future for Europe and beyond.
