Gilberto “Giba” Galvao

South American Middleweight Champion Gilberto Galvao comes from a world-renowned Luta Livre lineage, and owns black belts in both BJJ and Luta Livre.

A three-time state champion in BJJ, Galvao made his professional cage debut in 2006, making him one of the most experienced veterans in mixed martial arts.

Originally from Sao Paulo in Brazil, Galvao endured a mixed start to his career, but came back with a vengeance, embarking on an incredible 13-bout winning streak which spanned three whole years.

He travelled all over the country to train and compete, where he established himself as one of South America’s top middleweights with the Aspera FC and Nitrix Fight middleweight titles.

He inevitably found himself on the global stage of ONE Championship, and as an elite grappling specialist, it should come as no surprise that he has a slew of impressive submission wins on his resume.
