What is Sixpence?

Funded by Nebraska’s Early Education Endowment Grant Program.  It provides services for prenatal moms and families with children birth to 36 months.

  • Parent/Child Education groups in school and community settings
  • Monthly Teen Support Groups
  • Child playgroups
  • A book bag lending program for children

Our Approach

  • Three Home visits a month
  • Personalized, one-on-one help for you and your baby
  • Information about child development
  • Help creating quality parent-child interactions
  • Help finding resources for your family’s unique needs

Who can Participate?

Priority is given to families that meet some of the following criteria:

  • Child was born prematurely
    or at low birth weight.
  • Your family’s income qualifies you for participation for federal free or reduced lunch program.
  • Parents are younger than 18 years old.
  • You have not completed high school.
  • A language other than English is the primary means of communication in your home.

How will this Help my Child?

  • Your child will receive professional support in social, emotional, and language development.
  • A strong foundation of learning for the child’s success in school.
  • As a parent, you will learn how to support your child’s language development and pre-literacy education.
