Reading period access: From December 10 to 19, access to the Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center and the Fisher Fine Arts Library will be limited to PennCard holders and other Penn affiliates. Find more information.

The Museum Library will be closed Saturday, December 21, 2024 through Tuesday, January 14, 2025 because of building improvements. We apologize for any inconvenience.

With over 145,000 volumes on-site, the Museum Library’s collections focus on publications on archaeology throughout the world, biological anthropology, cultural and linguistic anthropology, and medical anthropology, as well as archaeological sciences and cultural heritage management.

Location and Accessibility

Accessibility

The East Entrance is most direct for the Library. It can be entered via the driveway on the east side of the Museum off Convention Avenue, south of South Street, just past the entrance to Penn Museum Lot 7. This driveway is directly across from the SEPTA Penn Medicine Regional Rail Station (formerly University City Station). Guests may be dropped off at the East Entrance but the Kress Lot is not open for public parking. This entrance has a power-assisted door.

Additional Information

The map on the right shows the location of the Museum's East Entrance. Both the Main Entrance and the East Entrance are accessible, but the East Entrance is more convenient for getting to the Library.

See the Museum's Accessibility page for more details.
