About us

At ComEd, we believe in being an energy partner, not just an energy provider. Being a provider means we deliver electricity to over 4 million customers across northern Illinois, which accounts for about 70 percent of the state’s population. We do so safely and reliably because we are driven by the innovation that comes from the industry expertise our employees offer. And we're committed to pursuing best-in-class performance so that our customers receive the quality service they expect and deserve. We have championed investments in technology that help shorten outages and make them less frequent, and those investments empower our customers to make smart choices about energy usage. Being a partner means we also help our customers discover new ways to save money on electric bills, while also showing how they can help the environment by decreasing their carbon footprint. We also support a range of initiatives that make a difference in people’s lives. Our commitment focuses on education, environment, arts and culture, and community development. At ComEd, #PoweringLives isn’t just a motto. It is the driving force behind everything we do. Learn more about ComEd anytime at www.ComEd.com.

Turning challenges into opportunities is at the heart of the clean energy transition. Together with CleanCapital, we’re bringing Yeoman Solar to life in Waukegan—the largest community solar project in our service area. Built on a remediated landfill site, Yeoman Solar will generate more than 13,000 MWh of clean power annually, enough to serve over 1,000 homes. Through Illinois Solar for All, participating households will receive meaningful bill credits, helping families managing on a budget save hundreds of dollars each year. Beyond the numbers, this project represents environmental restoration, economic resilience and a commitment to equity in the energy transition. We’re proud to work with partners who share our vision for a cleaner, stronger future. Together, we’re building a grid that works for everyone—one that delivers reliable, affordable energy while creating opportunities for communities across Illinois. We’ve been ranked the most reliable electric utility in the nation! In a benchmark study comparing us to similar utilities, we ranked first for having the lowest frequency and duration of outages for our customers. Our investments in the grid have cut outage frequency by more than 50% and duration by 20% since 2012. That means fewer interruptions and billions saved for customers. “Our customers count on ComEd to deliver world-class reliability to meet their growing electrification needs,” said Gil C. Quiniones, our President and CEO. “ Our performance on reliability and resilience is the result of targeted investments, tailored to address the growing challenges the grid faces from extreme weather, increasing load demands and cybersecurity. We will continue to take the steps necessary for the 4.2 million customers we are privileged to serve.” We’ll keep building a resilient grid for the future. http://spr.ly/60447TdUo

Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting Elk Grove Village to tour the TSS184 electric service station (ESS). This project is a vital component of ComEd’s broader efforts to modernize the grid to meet northern Illinois’ growing energy needs while unlocking economic opportunities for the region, bringing enhanced reliability to new and existing customers. TSS184’s modern features will enable it to power the upcoming CloudHQ data center, a state-of-the-art facility located just over a mile away. Exelon is proud to be providing the reliable energy CloudHQ will need to thrive and support critical industries powering the digital economy. During my visit, I also had the chance to meet with a ComEd customer billing team. As Exelon focuses on ensuring all our customers have access to affordable energy, this team is working directly with customers on a daily basis to help them manage and understand their bills. These team members deliver solutions to customers who need it most, and we’re incredibly grateful for their efforts! It’s always a great day when I get to see our teams in action. Many thanks to the ComEd team for the insightful visit. Together, we're building a stronger, more affordable, and sustainable energy system for generations to come!

President & CEO of ComEd - an Exelon company. We are powering the lives of more than 9 million northern Illinoisians.

As electricity demand surges, we're entering a new era of energy needs. It was great to speak with Tom Skilling about this topic. To meet this unprecedented demand reliably and affordably for our customers across northern Illinois, we must embrace a diverse mix of low-carbon sources. ComEd already has one of the cleanest grids in the nation, and we are advocating for more supply so we can meet Illinois' ambitious climate and economic development goals. At ComEd, we're making investments in the grid to ensure it remains reliable, affordable and sustainable for the communities we serve.
