Hourly carbon-free energy matching gives customers the ability to match their electricity usage with clean energy where and when it’s needed to advance decarbonization efforts and drive investment in a diverse mix of clean generation, and in turn, a more reliable, affordable grid. We’re excited to debut a new, first-of-a-kind tool that demonstrates the ease and accessibility of hourly GHG accounting. Constellation’s Hourly Matching GHG Calculator offers a way for sustainability pros and energy managers to understand how their existing clean energy supply contracts can continue to be counted in an hourly accounting framework. Today, users in PJM, ERCOT and CAISO can convert annualized load and clean energy supply data to approximated hourly market-based emissions and produce a clearer picture of their clean energy consumption and emissions impact. "What is clear to us is that we must build and retain resources that produce abundant, reliable and clean power. The best way we know to do that is to make state-of-the-art investments in our state’s existing nuclear, hydroelectric and renewable energy resources to get them to operate better and longer, and then to build on top of that great foundation.” – Joseph Dominguez, President & CEO, Constellation Big energy. Bold vision. Brighter future. Today, we unveiled a forward-looking proposal that could bring up to 5,800 megawatts of power generation to Maryland to help meet rising demand, lower utility bills and accelerate the shift to reliable, emissions-free energy. The proposal gives state leaders a flexible roadmap to make smart, cost-effective decisions about how we power our communities and protect our planet. A big part of our commitment to developing the workforce of the future is engaging young people from the communities where we operate. This fall, we welcomed about 60 local students from four Calvert County public high schools to our Calvert Cliffs Clean Energy Center in southern Maryland for a firsthand look at how the site produces enough clean electricity to power the equivalent of 1.3 million homes. Students had the chance to experience the control room simulator and other areas of the plant as well as meet with members of the team to learn more about nuclear generation and the various career paths within our industry. 📷 Students from Patuxent High School pose in front of the turbine enclosure at Calvert Cliffs.
