Cholani Weebadde, associate professor in the Michigan State University Department of Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences, leads an online masters program in plant breeding designed to provide students around the world access to MSU’s world-renowned faculty and plant science education. Experts estimate that global food production must double by 2050 to feed a growing population. Dr. Eva Almenar, a professor in food packaging at the MSU School of Packaging, was named a 2025 IFT Fellow by the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT). Each year, IFT honors individuals whose careers exemplify excellence in the science of food. Roberto G. Lopez, PhD, associate professor and controlled environment/floriculture Michigan State University Extension specialist in the MSU Department of Horticulture, has been named the 2025 Outstanding Extension Educator by the American Society for Horticultural Science.
