This week, WM added plastic cups made of polypropylene and paper to-go cups to its universal list of accepted recyclable materials. Closed Loop Ventures portfolio company Found Energy is looking to conduct the biggest real-world test of aluminum as a zero-carbon fuel. Based in Boston, Found Energy harnesses the energy in aluminum metal scraps to power industrial processes without fossil fuels. "Since 2022, the company has worked to develop ways to rapidly release energy from aluminum on a small scale. Now it’s just switched on a much larger version of its aluminum-powered engine, which will be installed to supply heat and hydrogen to a tool manufacturing facility in the southeastern U.S. next year." Today, Closed Loop Partners announces a multi-million-dollar catalytic loan to Superior Fine Grind, an independently owned materials recovery facility in Connellsville, Pennsylvania––approximately 65 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.
