    We have news from Liverpool’s BBC Comedy Festival… 👀 Swipe to see the 10 new and returning shows unveiled by BBC Director of Comedy Jon Petrie. Including two brand new series - Hopley Hall (w/t) with Jamie-Lee O’Donnell and Opening Up with Amy Gledhill - there are also six fan favourites returning for a third time. Speaking at the Festival, Jon said: “What sets the BBC apart is that we are British comedy’s biggest backer by far. And in tough times, when there is less and less scripted comedy on television, that matters even more. “Because the BBC does not back comedy to make money. We back it for laughs. And if we weren’t here to support comedy properly, the simple truth is there would be a lot less of it. A lot less space for original voices.     The BBC’s Extend scheme was recently recognised at the Business Disability Forum Awards for its contribution to more inclusive recruitment across the BBC. Created in collaboration with the BBC’s Project Managers for Inclusion, Employee Resource Groups and Talent Acquisition Leads, BBC Extend ringfences permanent and fixed-term roles for people who are deaf, disabled or neurodivergent. Alongside ringfencing roles, the scheme supports hiring teams to make recruitment processes more accessible and inclusive. Since launching, Extend has helped increase the number of disabled people across the BBC and continues to support wider progress in accessibility and inclusive hiring. “The Extend scheme is about building confidence, trust and a culture where everyone feels welcomed and valued every day. By continuing to invest in Extend and making it an integral part of our recruitment process, the BBC sends a clear and optimistic message: inclusion is part of how we do things here.     Greetings fellow entrepreneurs, it's Amanda here. Thought I’d just take a moment to share with you a quick reflection on running a business / brand / vibe in the modern market.    If I could just be real with you guys for one moment. It’s a slog, isn’t it? Sometimes I have to ask; is the juice really worth the squeeze?    Well, the answer to my own question is: yes, yes it is. Business wasn’t meant to be easy. That’s why it’s called busy-ness. After nearly two years disrupting the interiors / wellness / lifestyle market – I’ve learnt a few lessons which I’d love to share with you.    1. Know your customers. Which for me, is know yourself. The question I always ask myself is: would I be drawn to this rug / retinol cream / resistance band*? Because if I’m drawn to it– then I can be confident that other people will be. Because other people are obsessed with me, and those people are 100% of my customers.    2. The hustle is real. You’ve got to put the work in, people. I post up to four posts A WEEK. Most of which are photographs of my coffee, but I turn up for it.    3. Have a business plan. My plan is co-lab this year, then go PLC, then aim to float myself by 2030. Simple – straightforward and sexy.    4. Talk to those who have done it. I’m constantly DM-ing successful business leaders to swap tips. So far I have only heard back from Karren Brady, and that was to ask me to stop messaging her.    5. Invest in yourself. For me that’s me time. But for you that could be you time. I find I do my best thinking on the Peloton with my girl Katy Wong for a thirty minute HIIT and Hills. For you it might be watching my insta posts. The point is, you do you. And if you can’t do you, do me.    *these are just a few things I’m interested in, but not all. Other things I’m also interested include: protein, city breaks to Europe, Harry Styles and Zoe Kravitz’s relationship, Botivo cocktails and the climate crisis).
