Where housing and services come together
About us
Brilliant Corners provides innovative housing and housing-related services to California’s most vulnerable individuals, with an emphasis on those transitioning from, or at risk of, homelessness or institutionalization. We were founded in 2004 on the belief that all people deserve safe, affordable housing that includes the support services they need to live as independently as possible. We quickly became California’s largest housing partner in the historic shift from institutional settings to community-based housing for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Over the past 20 years, we have embraced the challenge of scaling innovative supportive housing for those who need it most, with an emphasis on those transitioning from, or at risk of, homelessness or institutionalization. Working at the intersection of housing and sectors such as healthcare, veterans’ services, the justice system, and the homelessness response system, Brilliant Corners provides a variety of innovative supportive housing models that meet the unique needs of each individual we serve.

Our Southern California External Affairs Associate, Kayana was a featured panelist speaker for the Antelope Valley Reentry Symposium hosted by Los Angeles Regional Reentry Partnership and Antelope Valley College. The Symposium provided an opportunity to hear from experts from around the state on best practices and shifting policy in the reentry sector; while uplifting the voices of formerly incarcerated people and the amazing impact they have on our community. Kayana shared a presentation on the housing policy landscape in LA County.

Lack of #AffordableHousing means that many Californians have to sacrifice food, healthcare, or other necessities just to pay rent. The ripple effect of these difficult trade-offs can lead to housing instability, poverty, and homelessness. If you're curious about what it takes to #PreventHomelessness, the National Alliance to End Homelessness has some great info about the vital role affordable housing development and #SupportServices can play: https://buff.ly/wIuXpTP

According to the 2025 Out of Reach Report by National Low Income Housing Coalition, Californians earning a minimum wage would have to work 98 hours to afford a one-bedroom apartment. Learn more about how rent and housing continue to be out of reach by visiting: https://nlihc.org/oor

#HousingFirst trailblazer Sam Tsemberis recently joined Madeline Brand on KCRW Press Play to discuss the true root causes of homelessness, and why we absolutely need to keep championing programs that offer permanent #SupportiveHousing as a first step to substance use recovery and #MentalHealth treatment. October 10th is World Homeless Day, and an opportunity for advocates and providers to raise awareness and also better understand the needs of people experiencing homelessness. There are so many misconceptions about what causes homelessness and who experiences homelessness, so we pulled together some information from National Alliance to End Homelessness' overview on Homelessness in America.
