I met a career coach last week who knew exactly what his average application-to-interview conversion rate is for his clients (20%+). Before you hire a career coach, MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THIS STAT. Huntr brings customers an average of 1 interview per 17 applications (6%) and an average search time of 2 months for $40/month. Some coaches charge 50x more ($2,000+) for worse results. Job seekers- Don't pay a coach unless they know this number. And that the math makes sense to invest. I don't offer paid coaching services, but I know some great ones if you need them.

Highlights from Huntr's Q3 2025 Job Search Trends Report | 8-minute YouTube video | 4 November 2025 ✅ Typical time to first offer (≈55–71 days). ✅ The medium of job applications per week is 16. ✅ 20% of job seekers receive an offer after 10 to 20 applications. The majority find a job within 50 applications. ✅ Tailoring your resume results in a 2x increase in interviews (5.95% versus 2.9%). ✅ Recruiters spend 8 seconds in an initial review of your resume.  ✅ Resume best practice: A summary with a job description aligned accomplishment / impact in the first sentence or bullet. Don't lead with years of experience. ✅ Resume best practice: Skills section with up to 27 skills limited to those in the job description.   ✅ Two-page resumes perform better than one-page.  ✅ More certificates on the resume decreased the likelihood of getting an interview. Resume best practice: Tailor certifications to the job description. ✅ Listing a LinkedIn profile on a resume increases success. ✅ Response rates for job sites showed Google (including a link to the employer's website), Handshake, GovernmentJobs, Wellfound, and ZipRecruiter all outperformed LinkedIn. [With the caveat that Handshake, GovernmentJobs, and Wellfound are not general-purpose job boards.] https://lnkd.in/eCr83-Ut #jobsearch

Want to actually hear back? Here's the top 5 job sites to land interviews 👇 I’ve talked to 50+ job seekers this month. Brilliant, qualified people who feel like they’re shouting into the void. They’ve sent 1,000+ applications (mostly on LinkedIn) and heard... nothing. Most assume their resume or that the market is broken (it is): But they’re also just applying in the wrong places. Huntr’s latest Q3 Job Search Trends Report analyzed 375,000+ job applications to see where candidates actually get interviews. And the data’s clear: 🥇 Google Jobs → 11.2% response rate (Searching for jobs on Google often takes you directly to the company page) 🥈 Handshake → 7.45% (For students + recent grads) 🥉 GovernmentJobs (NEOGOV) → 7.18% (City, State, Fed, & Public Jobs) 4️⃣ Wellfound (formerly AngelList) → 6.26% (Start-ups & Scale-ups) 5️⃣ ZipRecruiter → 5.26% ⬇️ LinkedIn: 3.93% ⬇️ Indeed: 3.84% ⬇️ Glassdoor: 3.8% ⬇️ Dice: 0.24% (!) LinkedIn is where everyone applies. That’s the problem. It’s oversaturated, not broken. ✅ Want interviews? Diversify your search. Target niche platforms, company career sites, and specialized job boards; they’re where the signal cuts through the noise. #JobSearch #Jobs #Career #CareerDevelopment #CareerStrategy #HiringTrends #Huntr #JobSeekers #opentowork

A relief to hear from an incredible Huntr colleague in Jamaica after a week without power and contact. Also, a reminder that the recovery work starts after the news cycle moves on. I just donated what I could to Hurricane Melissa relief efforts in Melissa and hope you consider doing the same. (Link in comments)

Top 5 patterns from analysis of 225 1:1 job-search support call notes: 1. LinkedIn isn’t selling the story. At minimum your LinkedIn should reflect your resume, but it can be much more than that. In can give you social credibility critical in many industries. Put your best foot forward and own your successes. 2. Resume not tailored / no impact You should have a metric or number that showcases your impact in the first sentence of your summary section. And most of your bullet points should have the same. 3. Sending too few applications. Aim for 15 well tailored applications per week. Many are way below and same are way above. This is the sweet spot. 4. Networking issues. Don’t over think it. Reach out to your network and let them know you are looking and what you are looking for. When you apply, message the hiring manager or leadership at the company expressing enthusiasm and connecting the dots. Don’t annoy, but get your name out there. 5. Interview storytelling. Learn the STAR method for interviewing responses. Be ready with lost of questions to ask them. Be adaptable and focus on connecting while knowing your story and why you are the right fit. Which one do you disagree with? What did I miss or what would you bump to #1? #jobsearch #jobseekers #resumes #linkedin #careeradvice #interviewtips
