🚀 DEVCOM AvMC has a longstanding partnership with PEO Missiles and Space, headquartered across the street from the Center on Redstone Arsenal. With our support, they make informed defensive and offensive integrated fires purchases for the US Army, giving our #Warfighters the tools they need to succeed in their mission and return home. #TechToProtect | #ArmyPartnerships
Long Range Precision Fires is a phrase thrown around a lot, but what exactly does it mean? Long Range Precision Fires is the next generation of US Army missiles, greatly increasing the range, lethality and providing cross-domain capabilities to the joint force. This US Army #modernization priority is vital to staying ahead of adversarial capabilities, and the Center is hard at work on LRPF testing the limits of the possible. #TechToProtect | #ModernizationMonday
“The Center is working closely with DSE to ensure a smooth transition among the 45 employees affected, and no positions will be eliminated. This transition of function to the hub of Army Aviation at Redstone will provide unparalleled synergy as we transform aviation capabilities for the future.” As part of this historic reorganization reaching the highest echelons of the U.S. Army, DEVCOM AvMC will transfer its Design, Simulation & Experimentation division, located at Moffett Field on the NASA Ames, CA, campus, to Redstone Arsenal, AL, and Joint-Base Langley-Eustis, VA, effective June 2026. “DEVCOM AvMC’s strength isn’t defined by organizational charts—it’s defined by the people who power it. Your talent, your experience, and your dedication are what make this Center invaluable.” – Dr. James Kirsch, DEVCOM AvMC Director #DEVCOMAvMC | #TechThursday
📝 Pop quiz: what is HALT testing? HALT, or highly accelerated lifetime testing, consists of a test chamber and an algorithm that puts a test asset, such as a missile, through the vibration and temperature environment that it will experience over years of use. Or in the words of team member Brad Ellison, “You don’t want to wait 20 years to answer the question, ‘Is this thing going to last 20 years?’” Just some of the work being performed at DEVCOM AvMC’s only-of-its-kind, Inertial Navigation Lab. #WeAreDEVCOMAvMC | #ScienceForTheSoldier
“For me, there is no greater gift you can give than to provide technology -- weapon systems -- for those that put their lives on the front lines to ensure our freedom.” – Dr. Yolanda Powell-Friend, SRD Deputy Director #WeAreAvMC | #SupportingTheWarfighter
"We do the things we need to do and get them done so the Soldier can focus on the very difficult task of warfighting. We take that mission seriously at DEVCOM AvMC.”- Dr. Stephanie Brown Reitmeier, S3I Director #WeAreAvMC | #Leadership
There is no better champion of the people and the mission of DEVCOM AvMC than Dr. Kirsch!
It was a pleasure to join the standing-room-only crowd at this morning’s SMDWG to hear Dr. Jim Kirsch, Executive Director of the U.S. Army DEVCOM Aviation & Missile Center (AvMC), U.S. Army DEVCOM Aviation & Missile Center), and the Army Futures Command, share insights on the Army Transformation Initiative and its impacts on AvMC. He also highlighted exciting new initiatives including CAML, Red Wasp, and extended range C-SUAS. At APT Research, we are proud to support the Army’s mission with the same focus Dr. K emphasized, innovation guided by safety, quality, and mission assurance. As a 100% employee-owned small business, our team is committed to delivering engineering excellence and solutions that protect the warfighter and strengthen national security. #APTResearch #SafetyQualityMissionAssurance #EmployeeOwned #SMDWG #ArmyTransformation #MissionAssurance
“Sometimes we have to fly regardless of the weather. In December or January, it can be really, really cold, freezing even, but I choose to love my job in the freezing cold, rainy winter weather as much as I choose to love my job when we are out in the desert in the summer in the heat. Why? Because if I don’t choose to love my job every day my final product won’t be as good, and I don’t want that to ever happen.” Team member and Visual Information Specialist Jose Mejia-Betancourth #WeAreDEVCOMAvMC | #WordsOfWisdom
