Another #CCS project starts up this year! We’ve started operations at Nucor Corporation’s DRI facility in Convent, Louisiana — marking more progress for both #carboncapture and storage and for lower-emissions steel production. Projects like this help strengthen the competitiveness of American steel, enabling production at scale while reducing emissions from a critical industrial sector. One billion barrels is an impressive number. But the story behind it is even bigger. This month, Imperial Oil's Kearl operations reached one billion barrels of production. Behind that milestone are thousands of people, years of innovation and a relentless focus on finding better ways to operate. Since startup, Kearl has grown into one of Canada's largest oil sands mining operations while continuing to push what's possible, including: - Building one of the world's largest autonomous haul truck fleets - Applying machine learning and advanced analytics to improve operations - Working alongside local and Indigenous communities that have helped shape Kearl's success One billion barrels didn't happen overnight. What does it take to help meet growing energy demand? Recently, we hosted U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright in the Permian Basin for a firsthand look at the people, technology, and operations helping deliver the energy that supports modern life. During the visit, Secretary Wright toured a drilling rig and saw how advanced data and automation technologies are helping improve safety and performance across our operations. Sometimes the smallest creatures can help create the biggest opportunities. In Malaysia's Terengganu state, women are turning beekeeping into a source of income, greater financial independence, and new opportunities for their families. Through a community program led by the royal foundation Yayasan DiRaja Sultan Miza (YDSM) and supported by ExxonMobil’s team in Malaysia, participants are learning how to raise native stingless kelulut bees and harvest honey. The impact is growing: 1. New income opportunities for local women 2. Skills and knowledge that can be shared across communities 3.
