Today's employment landscape is fragmented and complex. However, the future promises greater connectivity and integration among top players in HR tech, benefits, and fintech. The Finch team is thrilled to announce the launch of our inaugural Open Employment Ecosystem Market Map. This map features 225 companies across 15 categories and offers a comprehensive view of the open employment ecosystem. "Companies today use many applications to manage their workforce, leaving critical employee data scattered across systems of record and point solutions. While companies continue to choose best-of-breed tools for their specific needs, the lack of connectivity between these systems is a huge challenge—especially to and from payroll systems," said Alex Tran, Manager Director at General Catalyst. "The vision of an Open Employment Ecosystem where data flows seamlessly is the primary reason we backed the Finch team, and we’re thrilled to see the first version of their market map feature other General Catalyst portfolio companies such as Awardco, Factorial, Gusto and Thatch." Whether you’re an employment application, payroll provider, investor, or just curious, check out our detailed map here: https://lnkd.in/e6RyTyUm #HRtech #HR

Is managing employee rewards a constant headache? You're probably wasting time on manual updates and missing out on key recognition moments. Employee recognition and rewards are crucial for retention and engagement. ⚠️ But managing these programs can be time-consuming and inefficient, especially when relying on manual data updates. Here's how to automate your employee recognition and rewards system using HRIS integrations: 1️⃣ 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗛𝗥 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮: Determine the specific data points you need from the HRIS, such as employee names, start dates, birthdays, job titles, and manager information. 2️⃣ 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗥𝗜𝗦 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮: While bulk uploads can be faster than manual entry, they still require recurring effort. Integrations offer a more automated solution. 3️⃣ 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗛𝗥𝗜𝗦 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: ✦ 𝗦𝗙𝗧𝗣: A secure file transfer method, but often prone to errors and inconsistencies. ✦ 𝗶𝗣𝗮𝗮𝗦: Low-code solutions that can still require significant development effort and ongoing maintenance. ✦ 𝗔𝗣𝗜𝘀: Offer seamless data exchange but can be costly and complex to build individually. =================================== 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗣𝗜: Connect to hundreds of HRIS providers through a single integration, eliminating the need for costly custom builds. 𝗙𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲: A simplified solution for organizations with limited technical resources, leveraging existing integrations to deliver standardized data files. ✅ Ensure your system always has the latest employee data. ✅ Eliminate manual updates and free up HR teams for strategic initiatives. ✅ Deliver timely and personalized recognition and rewards. Finch empowers you to scale your employee recognition platform and deliver a seamless experience for your customers.

The employment data ecosystem, with its hundreds of millions of records and trillions of dollars flowing through it, is ripe for modernization. Manual processes like CSV uploads, SFTP/EDI file feeds, and human operations are the current norm, hindering scalability and efficiency. APIs offer a transformative solution to this fragmentation challenge. By establishing a unified interface or standard data model, API-driven integrations allow application developers to build seamlessly across the vast landscape of HRIS and payroll providers. 💡 This eliminates the need to tailor integrations to each individual provider, accelerating development cycles. Finch's 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗣𝗜 exemplifies this approach, connecting thousands of data providers through a single data model. We connect hundreds of HRIS and payroll providers to third-party B2B applications, standardize the data, and empower deeply integrated experiences throughout the employee lifecycle, from onboarding to equity management. APIs alleviate the cost burden associated with manual data handling, freeing up valuable resources and boosting overall efficiency within the sector. By streamlining data exchange and reducing manual intervention, APIs pave the way for increased innovation and growth in the employment technology space.

Finch reposted this
I’m looking forward to joining Randy Fife, Sean Kelly AIF®, CPFA®, and Tim Hoying at SPARK next week for a panel on the transformative effect of technology on the retirement industry. The retirement industry is key to fulfilling our mission at Finch — to create an Open Employment Ecosystem where the tools that employers use to manage their workforce can securely and easily share data with systems of record. But retirement TPAs and recordkeepers still rely heavily on outdated technology like batch file transfers because until now, they’ve had no alternative. Finch makes it easy for TPAs and recordkeepers to securely access data directly from their sponsors’ payroll systems so they can focus less on collecting information and more on providing services to their clients. Working with veteran 401(k) providers like Fidelity Investments, Nova 401(k) Associates, and Ameritas and startups like Human Interest, Saveday, and 401GO has helped Finch build a product that meets the needs of recordkeepers and TPAs. I’m excited to discuss where we are today and what innovation lies ahead!

For decades, Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) has been the go-to method for exchanging data between HRIS and payroll systems. While familiar, SFTP presents significant drawbacks in today's fast-paced, data-driven world. The SFTP Struggle: ➾ 𝗟𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Each system of record has its unique way of labeling and storing data. This lack of standardization forces developers to build and maintain custom integrations for each individual system, leading to a complex and time-consuming process. ➾ 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: SFTP is designed for bulk file uploads, not real-time data exchange. This means data can quickly become outdated, and the rigid file formatting makes it difficult to access specific information when needed. ➾ 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱: Despite its automation capabilities, SFTP often requires manual intervention. Setting up file feeds and preparing data for downstream use can burden operations teams and introduce opportunities for human error. The Need for a Modern Solution As the HR tech landscape evolves, businesses need a more agile and efficient way to exchange data. Unified APIs, like Finch, offer a modern SFTP alternative, providing standardized data access across hundreds of HRIS and payroll systems. 4 benefits of Unified APIs: ✅ Standardized data formats ✅ Real-time data syncing ✅ Reduced manual effort ✅ Improved efficiency and scalability It's time to move beyond the limitations of SFTP and embrace a more streamlined, connected approach to HR data integration.
