On November 6, 2025, the Trump Administration announced a deal to reduce the cost of GLP‑1 weight‑loss and diabetes medications and expand access across Medicare and Medicaid programs starting in 2026. This move will significantly impact drug pricing and coverage benchmarks for all plans. Lower prices and expanded access will spark demand, but they are only one step toward improved cardiometabolic health. This critical questions remains: 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗿𝘂𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗢𝗜? 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺: Adherence, side-effect management, and long-term behavior change are the true determinants of success. Without proper support, lack of adherence and side effects can erase potential improvements in member health. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁: Access alone will not equal impact. The plans that succeed will pair GLP-1s with scalable, data-driven support. At Lark, we call this responsible access. We have built 24/7 access to AI-powered functionality to support digital coaching, access to educational materials, resources for understanding side effects and tools for tracking medication adherence to enable members to achieve long-term success. The numbers are in: Business Group on Health reported in their 2026 Employer Health Care Strategy Survey that, for the second consecutive year, healthcare costs significantly exceeded employer forecasts. This is a call for a bolder, more proactive benefits strategy. Employers are already starting at a cost disadvantage, but projections of another median 9% increase in 2026 is creating renewed urgency to get ahead of the upcoming planning cycle. This isn't a year to wait for renewal season. How is your team shifting from reactive fixes to a long-term strategy? Lark explored this topic in a recent blog: U.S. Employers Face Healthcare Cost Surge: Strategies for 2026. Mercer's recent survey on health & benefit strategies for 2026 shows where employers are placing their bets on AI and where the biggest opportunity for cost-saving engagement lies. The focus is clearly on efficiency: Mercer reports 42% of employers anticipate deploying AI for Advanced Analytics to process massive amounts of unstructured data to inform smarter benefits decisions. However, a critical gap remains. Only 24% of respondents plan to use AI for health and wellness support. Employers may be underestimating the potential of AI and other technologies in their benefits strategy. Health solutions featuring AI-powered functionality are attracting significant investment because they enable members to sustain the behavior change needed to manage their chronic conditions, weight, and overall well-being. Analytics tell you what is wrong; technology-based education helps members understand how to fix it. Given the pace of innovation, we expect that within five years, every benefits program will include an AI component in its benefits structure. With the right partners, employers can deploy safe, effective AI functionality to support their desired business and health outcomes.

It's spooky season and benefits planning is in full swing. The real trick to getting the treat is choosing the right partners. When selecting a new vendor for cardiometabolic support, which factor is your single most critical "treat"? 🎃 Proven Outcomes & ROI: A vendor with a clear, audited track record of clinical improvement and quantifiable return on investment. 🎃 Comprehensive Offering: A platform that seamlessly supports members across multiple chronic conditions, simplifying the care pathway. 🎃 Scalability & Reach: A solution that can be easily deployed and utilized by a large, diverse population across all demographics. 🍭 All of the Treats! We demand a solution that excels in all three areas, and we won't settle for less.
