Hiring is a team sport. We decided to play it that way At LastPass, we started asking a simple question in early 2025. What if hiring managers took the lead on sourcing? Not because something was broken, but because we saw an opportunity hiding in plain sight. The data made the case simple. Candidates are three times more likely to respond to a hiring manager than a recruiter. Seventy percent of professionals on LinkedIn are passive and not actively applying. The only way to reach them is through direct, authentic conversation. Hiring managers are uniquely positioned to have it. So, we built a program to channel that. We called it Manager-Led Sourcing. Managers open doors. TA makes sure the right candidates walk through them. What surprised us most was not the candidate response rates, though those were strong. It was how much more invested managers became in the outcome when they had skin in the sourcing game. They were not waiting on the pipeline. They were helping build one. We are still early.
